Help me convince my mom to stop smoking!? -

Help me convince my mom to stop smoking!? -

My mom has been smoking for about 10 years. I used to think that it wasn-t very bad, but now i am noticing that she is becoming more and more addicted and she is becoming stressed and depressed, which is making her smoke even more, and she is coughing all the time.
I really need to convince her to stop!
So could you please please please please please give me some website names about the affects of smoking, and also about how to stop smoking? And if there is anyone answering out there that is an ex-smoker, could you tell me what worked for you, and what might work for her?
I would really really really appreciate it more than I can tell you.

Oh, btw, my mom is 45. I am in high school, but my sister is still really young, and it is having a horrible affect on her.She is probably becoming stressed and depressed because her kids keep harassing her about her smoking. That-s called lack of respect.
When I was a kid, if my sister and I would have acted like that about our father, we would have got the belt.
I doubt it is having a horrible affect on your sister. That-s just a guilt trip used to get people to stop smoking.
My father was a 3 pack a day smoker for years, before cutting down to a pack a day, and we weren-t harmed by it. Our friends parents smoked too, and they weren-t either. My grandparents smoked. 2 of them still do, and they are 87 and 83, and have smoked for over 60 years.
If she wants to quit, she will. The more you harass her, the more she will smoke. So show her some respect, and back off. She is the mother, and you are the child. Remember that.I know if I were a mom, I-d do anything for my kids. Not only is it endangering her health, but it-s endangering yours as well.
Talk to her in a calm way if you can, remind her of the health risks of smoking, both for her and for you. Tell her you love her and don-t want to lose her.

My grandmother had cancer three times because of smoking, and passed away from it in December of -07. Her husband, my grandfather, died fifteen years before at an early age [about 60], likely because of smoking. We all know smoking kills. It can kill the smoker and kill bystanders. Maybe this website can help.
