First of all the drug is Chantix and so answer #1 doesn-t know what he is talking about. Second, the cost is only about $110.00 per month for 3-6 months and so that is less than cigarettes at a pack per day. Third it works with only a minimum of side effects and no withdrawal. I quit on it and everyone I-ve seen on it has quit. That article is a crock and the guy who posted it is not actually an FDA employee, or is that an FDA article.
Chantix is safe, inexpensive, and easy to use and is a miracle drug if you want to quit. The reported success rate is ~80% and side effects include transient nausea for about 1-2 weeks and constipation relieved by milk of magnesia.
It is even being considered as mandatory therapy in some drug treatment facilities, so consider it safe until proven otherwise.
do you really think the FDA would let a new drug with 80% failure rate on the market?
p.s Your doctor seems uninformed, but it may be that no insurance covers it yet.
