Does your lungs completely heal after you stop smoking cigs? how long does it take? How can I stop? -
How long it takes to heal depends upon how much you smoke and for how long you have been smoking but it is possible for the lungs to completely heal and for your risk of health problems to revert to that of a never smoker although that may take several years of not smoking. My father has been smoking since his early teens and his lungs are now so bad that he is not able to smoke a single cigarette but he is determined to die a smoker so it is not easy to quit. I have my own smoking cessation program (which is free) but I would need more information before I would hazard a guess as to whether or not it would help you. Unfortunately none of the prescription or over the counter medications or programs works and if they did it would be front page news and you would not need to ask your question. I applaud your desire to quit and that is the first and essential step in good health. It is absolutely true that cigarettes are the most harmful substance that people have ever been exposed to and remains the #1 preventable cause of death in the United States causing about 500 000 deaths per year. To put this in perspective the US lost about 500 000 men in armed combat in all of the 20th century so in a sense cigarettes are 100 times more lethal than war. Good luck. They never heal, everythign that goes int them with cigarettes stays their but ofcourse the less stuff there the better they will be.your lungs DO completely heal it-s self but you have to quit smoking, it may take years but your lung could be as it was before you started smoking, unless you killed off cells [which most likely you did] they will never come bac to lifeI smoked for 26 years. I attended a group hypnosis session advertised in my local paper for $40 and I have never smoked again. It will be 2 years in Feb. I wanted to quit so badly. I had never been hypnotized before. It was amazing. If you really want to stop, go to a clinical hypnotist. There were no withdrawals, no cravings, a little weight gain, but....I didn-t care! I am so glad I quit.Don-t think that they-ll heal completely.Smoking causes permanent damage to your body.
good thing is that you-ve stopped smoking and there will be no more damage made to your body. Anyway thank-you for trying to stop smoking b/c i hate smoke. Second hand smoke kills. They never completely heal, but have a better chance at longer life.
Lay them aside, and try to use willpower. Some people use the nicotine patch and some take chewing gum. I think the desire to quit plays the largest role in your ability to quit. They will never heal. you have tar in your lungs and it will never cone out.they won-t but they will get better....
patch, gum, will power.... and the people who love you or you are doing it for
