Anyone know some tips to stop smoking? -

and the nicotine replacement stuf is crap by the way.I quit 4 years ago after 3 years of smoking. I found that for me my smoking was more physcological and habitual than addiction. I always smoked more when I was in my car or when I drank. So I quit by replacing the cigarette with (I know it sounds silly) dum dum lollipops. It gave me something to hang onto and focus on. when I drank I would suck on straws. It looked weird for a while but it worked! And I wasn-t too hard on myself right away. I slipped up now and then, but I never bought another pack. Not having them on hand makes it easier to forget about them. GOOD LUCK!chew gum when ever you want one the craving will pass for a little bit.
also try to make one pack last say 3 days and increase it by a day after that and so on. good luck,noSee your doctor, he should be able to find some quit smocking organisations.

You may want to tell him/her that you do not prefer one method of treatment but another if you think that this is better for you.If you were me, you would be able to do anything.Cold Turkey.I don-t have any personal experience because I have never smoked or will ever smoke, but I think having a friend help you quit is the best way. Get a friend to help monitor and watch over you. Whenever you get a craving, try eating something or shift your focus to something else. Excercising is supposedly a great way to do this and it-s been proven to help you quit. Plus, it-s good for you especially if you were a smoker. Oh, and try reading up on the negative effects of smoking, it-ll keep you determined and remind you why you decided to quit in the first place. Print out a picture of a smoker-s lungs and keep it with you. That-ll definitely do the trick.I just put them down and took it one day at a time.....I have not smoked in 1 yr 2mo and 4 days....after over 7yrs smoking.....and I still am taking it day by day. I still have cravings but no where near as bad....and they are rare.JUST DO IT!!!! make a conscious decision and stick to it! Don-t say -oh, I-ll just take a drag- it doesn-t help. To really quit, you have to stick to your guns. If you have no, or little self control, then go to your doctor and ask about CHANTIX, the latest and greatest stop smoking pill. It won-t kill the craving right away, but what it does is block the nicotine receptors in your brain, so your craving will eventually die. Keep your head held high and don-t give in! soon you-ll be smoke free!
GOOD LUCK!!did you try the new gum stuff?I smoked and what i did was i found something else i like better it could be somthing to eat, drink or an activity that u like better and whenever u get the craving of the ciggerettes do that thing u like better to hold u off.best way i think is cold turkey=whenever you get the desire for a some hang around a bunch of smokers you will get your fix and find that soon you wont want be anywhere near cigarettes at allthe best way to stop smoking is by chewing gum instead of smokin on a cigarette.
