What is the best way to stop smoking? -
I did it the same way as one of the ladies above with Allen Carrs easy way to stop smoking.I read the book in 4 hours, screwed the ciggies up and havent touched one since, hardly any withdrawals.
9 months now for me,I feel great.just pick a day and then never smoke again
or carry on and kill yourself
your calldont buy anyI say have a go at the acupuncture, it worked for me after only two sessions and no withdrawals. its good. seven years off them this August.as a smoker myself my simple answer would be -death.dont light up ,its that simple.I tried the Allen Carr book -the easy way to stop smoking-
It worked for me because it focuses on the psychological addiction rather than the physical . It made me think about smoking in a completely new light and when I gave up I didn`t feel like i was depriving myself of anything, I just began to look at smokers as the -pathetic, miserable -(Carr`s words) addicts that they are !! 11 years ago and never looked backIncrease caffeine consumption, smash coffee mugs where they won-t break anything, eat lots of snacks you like, drink lots of water, sleep a lot, dancing and/or other creative expression, willpower, don-t buy any, put away all your lighters, matches, and ashtrays, if you have quit for a time and you get a craving it can help to smoke herbs out of your kitchen cabinet. Just for that feeling of smoking. There is a new drug out with a high success rate. They say it will soon be on the NHS so I will be giving it a go.Name is chamix.Willpower.Plan the day, get some form of NRT(Patches or gum etc) clear all evidence out of your home and if possible find a group of like minded peeps to quit with.
it is achievable I did it!!How about this new tablet that-s about to become available on the NHS?

staple ya lips together
no seriously i found patches - an inhalator worked quite well for meGo on to lights first and then when you feel strong and determined enough stopAsk yourself who-s in control you or the fags - and then stop. Dont try to cut down. because it doesnt work !I had a friend who smoke for 20 years and tried a lot of things to quit--acupuncture is what ended up helping. The best way to stop smoking is to do something else when you think about smoking. Example: Sitting with some buddies and you think about have a smoke, drink some water or have a snack to keep your mind off of smoking. I hope this works for you.Throw away all your cigerettes and lighters.
If you live with someone else get them to throw away any they find.
Get someone to do most of your shopping for you so your not tempted to buy any.Cut down gradually. My experience is this: Just stop. When you make the choice to do so, you need to be willing to endure a week of misery. Then you need to be willing to endure three months of changing habit, after that you need to enjoy the fresh air when tempted. That-s the trick. For me anyway. :-) I-ve stopped on januari 1st 2007 and havent wanted to start again after making the choice. I smoked for 17 years.Don-t put a cig in your mouthYou will get alot of one line answers here but the truth is smoking is an addiction. They make billions of dollars selling gum, patches, etc., to help stop smoking, but they don-t always work. I suggest with all addictions, get help. Find a doctor or treatments to help you get better fast. Have a friend or spouse help you through this. Stop buying cigaretts, keep your mind busy, go to a health club, take up jogging.I went to a smoking cessation clinic and started using a nicotine inhalator which helped on my first few days, then i started using patches, i have been smoke free for 8 days and feel really good in myself for not smoking give it a go, after smoking 20 plus for the last 18 yearsStick the stop smoking patches over your eyes , then you won-t find your fags.
No, seriously, i gave up 4 months ago with the help of nicotine gum, i started with the 4mg for six weeks, then the 2mg for the next 6 weeks. They help with the cravings and you can chew up to twelve a day. You can these free on the NHS, but it has to be done through your doctor. Go and enquire about, you have nothing to lose.Hi, you should try Zyban, you get it on prescription from your doctor. You take the pills for about 11 days then stop smoking. You have to stay on them for a little while after that. They stop the cravings and all you have to do is get over the habit. I-ve used it a few times and it-s always worked unfortunately I have started up again, though that was not related to stopping the pills as I was a non smoker for 3 years at one point. Provided you do not have any medical reasons not to take it, I would strongly recommend it to anyone as nothing else I have tried has worked. Good luck xswear off fireDoing it because you want to not because of pressure from anyone else, pick a day and stick to it , get rid of all temptation, cigs ,lighters and ashtrays, get your supplies e.g whatever you are going to use, patches etc.. i would recommend the 16 hour patch, i was a 20 a day smoker so if i can do it anyone can! determination is all you need good luck.
