HAS ANYONE TRIED CHANTIX? the stop smoking drug? -

HAS ANYONE TRIED CHANTIX? the stop smoking drug? -

does it work and what are the side effects?I just stopped taking Chantix and I AM SMOKE FREE!!!. It has been two weeks. The stuff really works because I have quit with the patch a couple of years ago and that was alot harder than this. It is not expensive compared to how much you spend on smokes a month. I would highly recommend it if you really want to quit smoking. As far as the side effects, it really depends on the person but I had a little constipation (got the same thing when I quit without chantix before), a couple of bad dreams (nothing like a full blown nighmare, just weird) and thats about it that I could tell. Go to your doctor and tell him you want to try it. He suggested I stay on it for 3 months but I don-t feel like I ever need a cig anymore. The only time I really want one is when I fight with the wife but those urges are easy to get over now.

Tip: If you have never tried to quit cold turkey, try that first so you know what it feels like to really feen. You will relize how much chantix does once you know that feeling.I do not smoke but as a Respiratory Therapist I can tell you that I am hearing many good things about Chantix.

As far as I have read the main side effect is nausea and it is reportedly mild and affects about 30% of users.

Chantix has no nicotine in it but works on the receptors in the brain the same way that nicotine does.

Please ask your Dr for more info and if it looks like you would be a good candidate for Chantix by all means try it.Chantix does work and Chantix side effects are minimal and short-lived. For more Chantix information, please click the following link:

If I may generally answer your question (without being direct.......booooo!!) most of the non-smoking drugs out there can be effective but are sometimes just too weak for a powerful addiction.

You would have to talk to a doctor to be sure but I personally do not suffer from a smoking addiction (although there are other things in my life of course) and thus couldn-t your question.

However, I have known it to be done that if you gradually reduce your way through the powerful addiction (with the help of a sponsor whom you can call day and night...kind of like AA) and combined with drugs can get you off smoking in 30 days.

Apparently, it is not the addiction that is so hard. That can be broken in a clinic. It is the after-effects that tie it your frontal lobe that says how good smoking feels. So, in order to get rid of the good vibes, you need to try diversifying your happiness as best you can.

Often times, addiction defeat is made easier with the help of a trained psychologist or specialist that, with therapy, can make it possible for you to almost be completely rid of the addiction (however at this time there will apparently always be after-effects throughout life).

The short answer: I don-t know about this drug particularly and I am no expert...but I have been told that with addiction professional counseling and friendship can make you find more awesome things to do with your life and break the addiction.

I hope that helps if you or a friend are suffering from an addiction. Good luck.Yes, chantix is effective, but it-s an expensive drug, though.
