What are some tips to stop smoking? -
My aunt has been smoking since she was 11 years old and now shes in her 40s. Her teeth are getting yellow and she coughs a lot and sometimes chokes from the harsh coughs. She wants to quit but she doesnt want to gain weight from quiting because shes already overweight and is planning to lose it. Shes really bored all day and I think thats why my aunt smokes so much. She smokes like a pack a day... I think? Somewhere around there maybe a little more or less. What can she do to keep busy?

Please, I need good answers. I dont want anything to happen to her :-[
I appreciate all the suggestions and help that you give :)Well she won-t put on weight unless she increases eating. Some people replace cigarettes with food when the give up in order to take their mind off the craving.
Here are 2 tips that can make giving up smoking much easier.
Most people smoke in specific situations such as when they wake up, after a meal, waiting for a bus, when they have a coffee etc. Cravings will be strongest when they do these things as they will be mentally prepared for a cigarette and will obviously notice the lack of cigarette. So a good idea, before giving up, is to change these habits. That is, to stop automatically smoking at certain times. A second thing to do is to get out of these habits. So if she normally has a cup of coffee and a cigarette at 11am, then stop having a coffee at 11am.
When people smoke, they relax even though nicotine is a stimulant. This is partly mental in that they relax themselves because they expect to relax and physical in that when they smoke, people take long deep breathes. When your aunt gives up smoking, she should still take time out to pause and take some deep breathes in and out. Often the craving will reduce because part of what the body desires is this deep, relaxing breathing.
