I stopped smoking for over a year and I still fancy a cigarette? -

Will I ever get cigarettes out of my head!Stay with that quit! It-s marvellous to get over a year into it!

I quit just a bit over 5 years ago, and I can tell you that the health benefits are making keeping my quit so worthwhile! Every time I go quickly up a flight of stairs without wheezing, I am grateful. Every time I can go on a long walk with my grandkids, I am happy.

My doctor has had praise for how much healthier I am. So has my ear specialist. Even my dentist has said my gums are much healthier.

About once every couple of weeks or so, I think about smoking. Just a thought, not even a crave. The fantastic thing is, the moment I set my mind onto something else, the thought is gone again.

Things just keep on getting better and better and.... Don-t give up on this quit. You-ll see what I-m talking about.Congratuations, on not smoking for a year. I think your need is purely psychological, as you will definitely have no physical need after all that time. Just start thinking of a substitute, for instance, every time you want a cigarette, have a glass of water instead. It will be there but it will reduce by time. I quite smoking since 10 years and still I think about it.

But do not think about trying one because it is the first one and then you will be there again.I stopped 20 years ago and catch myself reaching for one every now and then. Somehow, the notion that there isn-t a pack in my pocket hasn-t sunk into my feeble brain yet.No I quit five years ago and still fancy one. Take up running or biking that helped me immensely.I gave up over a year ago and I still get the odd craving. Its like every other addiction, I think. Just ignore the cravings and do something else that takes your mind off it.There are times I still want a cig and I stopped a few years ago. You just can-t give into the craving. I found out going to the gym helps me get over it. Why don-t you try to take up something that will kill your time and keep your mind off of it?It-s hard...but keep at it.I quit food for over a year and i still fancied food. (went on a diet), Will i ever get food out of my head? The answer is NO.not completely. My mum gave up over 30 years ago and has told me she still somtimes fancies a cig.You need to get to the point where you reap the health benefits of not smoking to really appreciate your efforts.no never! but you have done a fantastic job!Maybe. I have just started again after 20 YEARS!! I never got them out of my head. I always wished I could have one, then I became unwell and smoked one to help me through and that was it! God I-ve missed it so much.

Obviously I would advise you to keep going, at least my lungs had a 20 year break from it.

Best wishes....No, it wont go away. It will go away most of the time on most days but you will have moments when you are really craving a cigarette. Just don-t give into it. Try to find something else to do to keep your mind off of it. Also, if the smell of cigarettes smoke makes you sick and you are thinking -I used to smell like that!- Keep that in mind when your craving one.

I quit for six years and the only time I craved one really, really bad is when I was drinking. A really good thing I only drink occasionally. But, I was at a wedding reception and drank a little more than I should and I was dying for a ciggie. Someone gave me one when I asked. That was 4 years ago..I-m smoking again. I am having a hell of a time stopping..I can-t. The firt time it was so easy this time its so hard. So don-t give in. Keep thinking of all the reasons you quit and how hard you worked at it.It never goes away, you just get used to it. I stopped 7 years ago!keep going just think you don-t have that horrible smell of tobbaccoI think you-re just stress up and that-s y u need a puff! Right?Of course you will. You cannot expect yourself to forget all about cigarettes in a day.Try to smoke less starting from now onwards and you will soon be used to not smoking.i have quit quite a few time but everytime i go back as it is the hardest thing ever to crave something and cant have it!! but keep going and live on and eventually u will feel better!! i am going o quit again shortly cannot afford it anymore! This doesn-t give me much hope matey!

I am on my second day of quitting and I keep having a possible lapse of will power - I am on patches and they are working but The hablt is still playing games in my head!

Good luckIm like you except I have only done it for a month !! And here-s me thinking the first 3 days were the hardest - I don-t know why but I thought that the cravings would just vanish after that... Best of luck and don-t give in !
