HELP ME !! i need to stop smoking tried everything.... any advice? -

When i quit (8 years ago) - i quit cold turkey. yes 8 years later, i still get that urge where i wanna light up, but to be perfectly honest it was the easiest and best way to do it, all these patches, and sticks in your mouth are just going to draw out the process. quit cold turkey, buy a puzzle that involes hand work, cross stitch is a good way! - or just think of that tar clogging your lungs! thats enough to put you offAlan Carr-s book - Easy Way to Stop Smoking (and stay stopped) did it for me 8 years ago.

It provides very helpful practical advice that talks you through both the physiological impact and psychological impact of smoking, and exactly what happens to your body and your mind when you stop. It then teaches you strategies for how to overcome the addiction.

He even encourages you to smoke whilst you read the book. I used to sit in my garage (exiled from the house) and puff away on a cigar whilst I read it. By the end, I really wanted to stop, so I did and it was relatively easy.

PS. I had tried and failed several times before. Are you trying to quit at the right time, it is harder to quit during periods where stress is higher.
There are medications such as zyban, but you would need a prescription from your GP for this.
Other than this contact your local smoking cessation service, they hold groups, or have 1 on 1 sessions, to support people in giving up smoking.
Good luck, it is hard at first, it does eventually get easier, and remember if you smoke 1 cig after quitting you have not failed you have just slipped up, and you can continue not smoking again straight after.I have successfully quit twice, each using a different method (once for three years, the next time for 10 minths). Remember, the physical addiction only lasts 21 days, it is the habit that persists and leads to your downfall.

The first time I quit I went cold turkey. I just told myself, -I don-t smoke anymore,- This was my best and most successful effort. Every time I wanted to smoke, I just said, -I don-t smoke.-

The second time I used Zyban (Welbutrin) and it was also pretty successful, the problem with that effort was I really didn-t care if I quit, I was only doing it for my husband.
When I gave up I used the nicorette patches and WILL POWER
Good Luck - You really will benefit from this
I also printed off a sheet to tell me the benefits at certain milestones of quitting.
Help 2 quit website may help
