Help to stop smoking? -
I am on day three of using Nicoderm CQ patches to stop smoking. My husband has decided today to stop cold turkey. I understand that he is going through hell, as am I, but he is totally taking it out on me. I am doing fine with the patches, aside from an urge here and there when I eat. He is being so grumpy that he has been fussing at me all day over nothing. He is making me want to go get cigarettes and say forget it because he is stressing me more than I feel that I can handle right now. Any advice on how to get through this stress without turning back to smoking?boil some of your patches hot water and make him a tea or coffee with it hopefully the nicotine off the patches soaks into the water and he-ll chill out! or go for a walk or bike ride.Well done both of you for deciding to quit! Two people in the same household quitting at the same time can-t be fun, though.Don-t give up now - you-re doing well, and so is he. Just go out for a bit if you-re feeling stressed out - take a walk to clear your head (the exercise will help too) - go visit a non smoking friend maybe, anything other than reaching for a cigarette.
As you say, he-s having a hard time - it-s not him being a grouch, it-s the cravings making him that way. It will pass, and you-ll be glad you toughed it out.
I hope you-re both feeling much happier, and healthier, soon!Actually there are some very effective methods to quit smoking that don-t involve patches or or even hypnosis. One such method is called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It has worked for 1000s. Check it out at
