I need some help to stop smoking? -
I have tried close to everything to suit what are some good effective ways to quit even if i takes medication and i would really like some advice for cravingsTobacco quit lines. I know, it sounds dreadful. But not only is it usually anonymous, but they can hook you up with local support in your area. They can also get to know you, and can then determine what the best way to quit would be for you. Check it out, and then you can decide whether or not it sounds fit for you.P.S: IF you are on any antidepressents, wellbutrin can ease smoking cravings.I picked up smoking (but I was only a smoker for a year in a half) I wanted to quit and did some studies, I learned that ginseng was great to help quit smoking. Even though it is used for energy purposes in the states, ginseng can be used to control stress levels. I bought ginseng pills (natural and nothing that had to do with enhancing energy) and I had an easier time controlling stress plus once I started taking those pills the taste and smell of cigarettes made me sick.hi, i think i have some answers that might help...
i used to have the same problem i tried nicotine patches i tried just about everything and then i realized how bad it was for me my best friend died from lounge cancer because of second hand smoking i thought about it i wasn-t just hurting me i was hurt me i was hurting my friends and family too but you cant quit for others it has to be for you too.
just keep a friend with you and anytime you feel like smoking take out a sheet of paper and write 1 reason why smoking affects you after about a week your body will be so used to it that it should be easier after a month the urge should just go away and your body might even not want it anymore
another thing you can do is find a different habit if the other 1 doesn-t work, i took up sun flower seeds every time i wanted to smoke i had a few and eventually you get over it
hope i helped :]]medications that actually reduce the cravings for nicotine are the most effective...currently there are 2 such prescription medications widely prescribed: Zyban and Chantix. In a recent study, participants received Chantix, Zyban, or sugar pills twice a day for 3 months. The results:
Chantix - 44% quit
Zyban - 30% quit
Sugar pills - 17% quit
the above info is from the first source listed below.
now, this is just me talking, lol: the makers of Chantix *highly* suggest starting with .50 mg once a day for the first 3 days, then .50 mg twice a day for the next 4 days, and then 1 mg twice a day for the next 2 months....yet, apparently, some doctors aren-t aware of this?!...
my best friend, who smoked a pack a day for over 20 years, tried Zyban without success. she then tried Chantix - but the side effects were horrible right from the beginning (um, having constant nausea and gas is no fun at all)...she stopped taking it after the third day....
however, once she found out that her dr. had started her out on the highest dose(!), she went back and got a script for a first month -starter pak- - which contains the dosage titration as listed above. she had *no* side effects once she began the starter pak. she then took 1 mg twice a day for the 2nd month - and, although they recommend that you take it for a full 3 months, since she had no urge to smoke whatsoever after month 2, she didn-t even bother refilling her script for month 3...
and she-s now been smoke-free for over 2 years! - to reward herself for her accomplishment, each month, she sets aside the amount of money she would-ve normally spent on cigarettes, and uses it to *fully pay* for a major vacation each year instead - she-s now gone on 2 vacations and is planning her 3rd - i-d say that-s one heck of a great way to *stay* quit!
good luck. :)Here-s an excellent guide for how to quit smoking - it has many options and links to Web sites that will help you learn more about each one. In addition to resources that help you quit, the guide outlines reasons for quitting smoking, and offers support services (groups, online forums) that can help you stick to your plan.
