im wanting to quit smoking and im having a really hard time of it, im trying to just stop smoking with no nicotene patch or nicorette gum (its expensive and i dont want to buy it if it doesnt work well) but yeah as i said its miserable and i dont know how much longer i can stand feeling like crap like this. any advise would be helpfulRichard, i quite the same way as you are, and as you are probably finding it sucks, but the good news is the hell of stopping smoking only last for 7-14 days, after that it is no longer hell just horrible, that goes on for a month or so, and then the craving will only hit every now and again (maybe once a day), after about 3 months then you really start to not want a cig. Am two years quite now and really don-t even think about smoking at all!Good luck and keep with it.Cold turkey combined with laziness. At the time I quit, my husband was working very late, and in order for me to get a new pack I would have had to go to the store, and I just didn-t feel like walking that far for something that I knew would make me feel worse(sore throat and coughing) than the withdrawals I was having. Plus, there was no way I could smoke my husbands cigs. Cheap menthols are nasty:PI tried every remedy until I a few months after I accepted Jesus as my savior. My husband decided to quit and I had to as well if it was to work. We drank tons of water and prayed and we made it through.
The 1st 3 days was HORRIBLE!
We kicked and screamed the whole way but we made it with the Lord-s help.
It was a miracle.I quit cold turkey but I had good motivation I was pregnant... Since I don-t think you can do that I have heard really good things about the Smoke Away system. It really doesn-t cost to much and there-s a money back grantee so you have nothing to lose!
Good Luck!my sheer strong will power helped me quit smoking. no nicotine patches or gums. i went through the cold turkey syndrome, which felt like hell, but now, i-m free of nicotine and absolutely healthy. if i did it, you can do it man. goodluck - cheers!I quit cold turkey with no cravings or irritation. I got so discusted with the ashtray taste that I kept brushing my teeth and tongue after each cigarette. I didn-t really try, I just smoked fewer and fewer cigarettes because of the foul taste and smell. Eventually the smell became so repulsive that I quit, but believe it or not it was three days after I quit before I realized i hadn-t had a cigarette. After that I read that the most successful way to quit was when the habit quit you instead of you quitting it. Maybe it had something to do with brushing my teeth all the time. I-m just grateful it was easy for me to let it go.I quit using the cold turkey method. What helped a lot was believe it or not, suckers. It-s an action involving the hand and the mouth. Just pop in a sucker and interact with it as you would a cigarette. Every so often take it out of your mouth for a few seconds and pop it back in, Twirl it around on your tongue, etc.
As long as you-re keeping your hand and your mouth busy it seems to help with the habit of doing it with cigarettes. I used the little -Dum-Dums- brand suckers. They last about as long as a cigarette. :) After a while you-ll be free of the nicotine and the habit will slowly go away too. And then you won-t want another sucker for a loooong time. :)
Make sure you take extra special care of your teeth during this time as theres a lot of sugar in suckers. Alternatively, You could use sugar-free suckers. They cost a bit more and still taste as good. :)
Good Luck on quitting!!Nicoderm CQ. Best method I ever used. Never gone back to smkoing - it-s been 18 years. My husband and I have both smoked for 14 years. I am not ready to quit yet I know I need to. He just stopped and he used the patches..store brand at CVS or Albertsons. They are expensive but they worked for him. Think about how much the cigarettes cost and really its not any more it just hits you all at once. He-s been successful now for 8 months even with me smoking. I used them for a weekend and worked fine until I was around somebody else smoking. Also find something else to do with your time that you normally are used to smoking...that-s what was hard for me, morning coffee, breaks at work, cokes, driving down the road...and you know all the other times you are used to having a cigarette with or after... : ) Good Luck to Ya.I quit when my grandmother died of complications with lung cancer among other things and for me watching her suffer how she did really affected me and made me quitMy husband and I quit cold turkey 14 years ago.
