Stopping smoking question? -
It-s been about 3 weeks since I quit smoking and I-ve gotten over the worst of the withdrawal. I-m still getting a few tummy aches, but I-m not thinking about the cigarettes so much now.Trouble is, I feel so depressed and irritable now. I just feel so horrible!
About how long before this wears off? I was using the nicorette inhalator to replace the nicotine, but I-m reluctant to keep using it as I want to kick the nicotine addiction as soon as possible. I can-t use patches or gum as they give me heartburn and chest pain.
Should I go back to my inhalator? Each person is different, my advice is bin the inhalator and go cold turkey now. You-ll go through a mad couple of weeks and then calm. It is the nicotine that makes you edgy, but withdrawal will make you edgy too. Just remember that when you-re completely clean, you-ll be a much calmer, happier person.no. you should enjoy packing up! How can you be depressed and irritable if you are enjoying yourself ?
Think of all the advantages of quitting.(Dramatically improved health and wealth for starters can-t be bad can it?) Keep drumming them in, and surely , how can you be anything other than delighted at the opportunity of gaining the massive benefits of quitting !! You are getting what you want!
The other point is to get some support, ideally from family, or a friend .If not , a health professional. It makes it a million times easier, cos it-s tough on your own.
Regarding tummy aches , I-m not a doctor , but when people quit, their diet changes, i.e. extra sweets tea, booze etc.
Anyway, keep going, because you-ve done the hardest part, which is deciding to tackle the problem.Well done. Three whole weeks is excellent. You are well on the way to beating the addiction. Check with your Nurse at your local -Help2Quit- clinic (if you are in the UK) regarding the continued use of the inhaler. You may need to reduce the use gradually - weaning your self off. Whatever you do, don-t give up giving up. It is SO worth it.I don-t think the stomach pain is connected. You don-t need anything, its 3 weeks since you had one and that is fantastic, you don-t want to go back the way just keep going - I wish I could do it, I was off the ciggies for 16 years and started again, how stupid is that. Good Luck.depressed about not having a cig, I-d be more depressed as to how much that cig cost, $$$ and life. The best way to quit is cold turkey, it is hard but ask which is harder smoking or carrying and oxy tank? No, just keep going without the inhalator. It won-t be much longer before you feel a bit more normal and it-s so good what you have already achieved.
Keep at it, you-ll get there. No, maybe the next week you will get the goal.Keep at it!
