u can-t, he has to want to quitI quit smoking in october .I done it for myself and that is the only way to do so.You arent going to get him to quit and if he does it wont last,only if he does it for hisself.The more you nag the more he will smoke.He has to want to stop smoking first- before you can help. Find out what would motivate him to want to stop smoking. It is different for everyone.Ask him if he will do it for you.
Tell him nicely why you would like him to stopTell him you won-t kiss him till he stops.

hes 18 just turned 18 and i dont want him toYou can give him all the information about how bad it is but he will only quit when he is ready. My parents both smoked. My dad has emphysema and my mom had lung cancer. They finally quit and would preach at me all the time. I still smoked for 24 years until I got pneumonia and was in the hospital for several days, That-s what finally made me get some sense., You didn-t say if he lives with you or not. If he does live with you, you have the right to tell him there is no more smoking in side your house, or for that matter any place around the house. At 18 you really cant tell him to quit, yes it is better for him but you cant order him not to smoke.For one thing unless he want to he will never stop. The person has to want to. Buy him some skin patches or the gum and give them to him maybe he will use them special around the house, Just remember if you push kids rebel and it will be a losing battle. I suffered acute bronchitis in late March, breathlessness, shortness of breath and burning/soreness of chest... I felt just horrible!!it depends on your guys relationship. Are you close, could you guys talk about it without fighting? Can you tell him how you feel about his smoking without making him feel guilty? Your son has to stop because he wants to stop.You can-t -- he-s an adult and he-s made his decision. You-ll have to wait until he decides to quit himself.Just ask him to stop
