I cant stop smoking. HELP?!? -
I have tried to quit smoking using various methods for a good few months now, its getting to me.I have a very stressful life and i have depression and smoking is a real comfort to me.
I would like to quit, but the thing is i am so poorly at the moment i have no will power.
The thing is my parents and my partner want me to stop, but i know that i cant at the moment.
I-m feeling so poorly today and i just need a cigarette but i know i cant go cold turkey.
I-m allergic to nicotine patches, i-ve tried them before, so how can i quit?
Can it work when i dont have the willpower to do it?!
Thank you xBasically, when you really want to quit, you will. It helps to understand that you will feel much better when you don-t smoke - it-s a change that really will improve your life.
For starters, set yourself a few easy goals, eg no smoking for the hour after you get up, or before you go to bed (you-ll feel much better), Try hard to avoid smoking in the most familiar situations, eg after a meal, with your coffee, or with a beer. Gradually break the association of smoking in specific contexts - that-s the strongest link in the habit.
A trick I found useful was to smoke occasionally without inhaling. This takes away most of the pleasure. When you-re finally convinced that you no longer enjoy smoking, you will stop.When I was younger which is not that long ago, there were chocolate cigarettes which were like chocolate covered in paper and you could either pretend that was a cigarette or just eat it.
Another method is try getting a fake cig and smoke it that way you wont damage your lungs it wont go down and you can use it as much as you like.

But, frankly, this may not be the time for you to stop. The best time is when you-re relaxed and don-t have anything stressful going on, e.g., when you-re on vacation.Not trying to be mean, but I-ll have a shot at this.
QUIT NOW OMFG YOU-RE MIGHT DIE OF LUNG CANCER AND HAVE BLACK TEETH AND A WHOLE IN YOUR THROAT AND BE REALLY UGLY IF YOU DON-T STOP WHILE YOU HAVE THE CHANCE!!!!talk to your doctor about quiting. your doctor will probably have the best advice than anyone on Yahoo Answers because your doctor knows you. your doctor probably knows what your allergic to and what treatment options will be best.

xHi,This may work for you,go to the hospital and ask if you can see a person in the latter stages of Emphysema,that is enough to stop anybody,my Dad died with it and on the last few hours of his life his eye-s rolled back in his head and was breathing a million mile an hour,and this happens day in day out,people dieing,just for bloody cigarettes.Good luck,I really hope you can kick smoking and enjoy your life.Instead of smoking,go on Paltalk and chat to people on webcams from all over the world,you see and hear some interesting stuff on there.Once again kick the smokes,for your future-s sake.i smoke myself... i think when i want to stop i-ll be able.. im 19 n been smoking since i was 12. but thank god it-s really strange with me, i smoke around 3 a day and that-s about it... some days i don-t even smoke atall. i-ve gone weeks without smoking. and regularly have days where i don-t atall. i-ve never let ciggerettes control me. im thankful that im strong that way. just decide that ur only gonna smoke after a meal. u-ll look forward to it. then after a few weeks... decide if u want to quit or not. u can-t just stop if u don-t have the willpower. because even if ur body doesn-t crave the nicotine ur mind will... so ur gonna have to wait till ur ready. in the mean time cut down alot to around the same as me.. u-ll feel the benefits.The will power is there, you just have to find it my friend. Do you like to work out, play sports or some sort of activity. My suggestion is take part in something you like, and you will then see you are limited to this activity because of your smoking habits. You realize you are having a tough time breathing and making that next step to be better at the activity. In order to do this, you must cut back on your smoking, it is essential, you understand what i mean?
Cut back on your daily puff-s, cut them down, and start doing your activity! You will realize you will get better in time at what you are doing and your breathing will vastly improve. These are the essential steps to a better life without smoking. You can do it! I believe in you! Just try it ok?
A lot of people i know have quit smoking without the patch and just pure will power. You just have to find the will power, and you-re more then capable of doing that. I wish the best of luck to you!!
