Has anybody got any good tips or ideas that might help me quit.
I don-t really want to start using nicotine replacement if at all possible.
Are there any natural aids to help me quit?Just don-t buy any more, and don-t be tempted to ponce them off your mates.go to the gym. most people have a cigarette to chill them out and relax, excercise can do the same thing, plus if you keep it up for over 3 weeks both excercising and not smoking will become habit.I have recently quit using patches and have found them to be very helpful.
I read up many thing s and nicotine replacement or zyban can double your chances of succesfully quitting. They are not a magic cure but if you are serious about quitting i believe they are worth trying.
I quit four weeks ago but am still bothered by cravings etc but so far have managed not to succumb to them!
Good luck xI-m not really recommending this but I am off them since New Years Eve. I really smoked way too much over the Christmas period and as a result burnt myself out. The following few days I didn-t want to go near one and as the days turned into weeks and the weeks into months it wasn-t too bad. I didn-t use any nicotine replacements. It was hardest the first night I went out but once I got over the first night it gave me the strength to continue. I reckon its to do with habits like if you smoke in the car or have one after your meal. You need to cut out the habit cigarette and take it from there.
I do miss them espically when my friends are having one.
Good luck.Good for you. Take a couple of weeks to get yourself mentally prepared to quit. Then take 2 more weeks telling yourself that you won-t be pressured into starting again. Keep reminding yourself that it will not bother you when you quit and try to stay out of smoky places for awhile. It worked for me and I smoked for 30 yrs. I quit cold and you can to. Don-t start taking drugs cause they don-t work if do don-t really want to quit. Good luck and persevere.I to am trying to quit, i woke up one day and thought this is a waste of time. I just stopped buying them, i fall off the wagon now and again but just try again the day after. I used to smoke 20+ a day. went down to 10 now i only light up if i have a really bad day.
Best of luck to you.JUST STOP PERIOD!!!
Best tip I can give because I smoked over fifty years and decided
it was time to quit and I did . Simply make up your mind to stop and DO IT!!Ohhh Lizzy lizzy lizzy. Well I gave up smoking by going to a NHS stop smoking sessions. They were twice a week free of charge. We got together with other smokers trying to quit it was a good larf too. However I smoke again :( I did quit for 5 months it was just .. well I dunno :( I am waiting for July 1st (smoking ban) then Im going to give it another go :) good luck xxThe most natural aid is in your own head. I-m quitting, too.
I-ve found the most helpful thing is (cheesy, but...) mind over matter - LOTS of water.
Also, eating little snacks throughout the day like peanuts or chips (Pirate-s Booty is my weakness) will help with the hand-to-mouth physical craving. Chew gum. And drink water. Lots of water.
Good luck!i am in the same boat. down to 3 smokes a day. drink lots of water and eat hard candy, suck on suckers or chew gum. it really helps when you have someone there to encourage you. tell you no when you think you need one. the craving will never go away but if you could just quit for awhile and tell yourself that you never want to do that again also think about the people around you, they shouldn-t have to smell them nasty things and have to breath in your second hand smoke. right now it is freakin cold here and if i want one i will have to go outside to have one and personally i would rather be warm then cold and smokin. good luck to ya!!!Quitting is all about self discipline. All you have to do is NOT light a cigarette. I-m so irritated with all these nicotine patches and gums and other -methods.- It-s simple, don-t smoke and you-ve successfully quit.
I smoked for 12 years before I finally decided it was time to quit. I-ve been clean for over 2 months. When I-m out with friends or at a bar, I miss it, but then I think about my lungs and cancer. Like I said, it-s self discipline. Plain and simple, just don-t light a cigarette.Well, Liz, I found that giving up something else, in my case sugar in my coffee, helps, I don-t know why, but it sort of takes your mind off the cravings, dilutes them, What you really need is the WILL to give up, don-t play at it, DO IT, I did and feel 100% better!
I wish you the very best of luck, and hope you will succeed, take every day as it comes, DON-T GIVE IN!Just put down the cigarette!! throw em all out! and continue ur life......without cigarettes!

Well i was a heavy smoker for 10 year but i try the lozoner for Nico and now I-m down to only one loszoner a day its a great feelingchange your lifestyle - take up exercise / hobby so that your are doing things when you used to smoke.
try not to drink too much as that increases the cravings.
destroy / throw out any evidence of cigs - eg lighters/ash trays etc
good luckHave you tried hypnosis? Not really anything that is going to be much use. Acupuncture, homoeopathy, hypnotherapy and herbal remedies (which are not always as safe as people assume.) Seem to come out no better than placebo.
The only 2 aids that do help, and then only modestly, are NRT in all its forms and Zyban, which has a better success rate, but more potential side effects than NRT.I too am trying to quit. My doctor gave me a prescription for Wellbutrin, which is an anti-depressant, but it also helps to quit smoking. The other thing I do is eat suckers. Anytime I want a cig., I suck on a sucker. It-s helping me.not sure about natural remides. Your local new leaf shoul dbe able to help though. Just try do something creative with ur hands instaed of eating
good luck with ur taskWhy on earth NOT use NRTs? They work. They really do. They made my quit possible. They increase the odds of a good quit. I never understood why people don-t use them, and make their quits tougher than they need to be.
Okay. Rant over. Go to QuitNet.com and ask that same question on their QuitStop forum. You-ll get a wide variety of answers, believe me.I used -Allen Carrs easy way to stop smoking-.I read about it on here (answers),Its amazing,I read it in 4 hours ,screwed my cigs up and havent smoked since,no withdrawals.
I think he puts something into your sub concience because I bought it to try at new year, so I wasnt ready to give up in November but I did.
It has a very high success rate.Willpower is the only permanent solution and you-d be surprised how easy it is if you are sincere about quiting, but try-n keep your mind occupied and your -fingers busy-... you can e-mail me if you likenothing beats cold turkey yet again if you do tendencies are your old habits will be redirected.. like when i get bored at the uni i munch on my pencil all the time (sometimes ridculously sucking it).. when i feel the need to smoke nowadays i find myself drinking tea, munching on cheese sticks or those dairy lea jumbo tubes.. i-ve developed a likeing for any stick.. munching the ends, playing majorette with my fingers - other silly things like that.. best advice? have a guy around you,it can be fun to quit smoking :Dyou should try paul mckenna-s stop smoking ive got his i can make you thin and its great. hope it works for you good luckIm trying to give up cigarettes and stop smoking? -

I need o stop usin and abusing drugs and alchohol any suggestions help.stay away from it all
no matter what you have to do
its called -cold turkey-
good luck!Firstly, congratulations for realising you have a problem. It really is the first step.
I would suggest seeing a doctor to help. Drinking frequently in itself is not alcoholism, it-s when you begin to become dependent on the substance itself. You need to cut the drugs out, and this is often extremely difficult to do alone. You may need to speak to a proffessional, or look for help and support groups as this will help you to finally quit.well heres something that may scare the hell out of you, just to make you quit:
ive done it many times but i dont abuse it
if you do it often then you become a paranoid schytzophrynic! drink wine. and dont smoke so much. you can uh get help by NOT purchasing it, and dont hang with your friends when they are taking shots and smoking bowls.I drank and smoked pot for yars and when I wanted to stop I couldnt. I tried A.A. and that was O.K. for awhile, then I went back. and after getting real bad after a bunch of rehabs and lockups, I became desperate enough to try anything. Someone brought me through the
12 steps of the A.A. program and they worked. Pain will motivate you when you are ready.
You can quit smoking in just 38 minutes and 13 seconds!
http://best-way-to-stop-smoking.infoJust get rid of all your cigs and don-t buy anymore. If that doesn-t work, too bad, no one wants to hear -Oh, I can-t stop smoking, it-s too hard.-Stay away from people who smoke the hippie lettuce and drink alcohol. If you call marijuana a drug, I-m afraid I can-t help you. It-s medication for many of us.I want to stop smoking pot,I just turned 21 and I am starting to drink often.HELP please I realy want to stop.? -
Has anyone used quot;New Roots Herbal - Stop Smokingquot; successfully? -

I-ve tried other methods to quit smoking without success. I am now looking for something natural and would like to hear from someone who has quit smoking without using drugs.I have heard that some people have had success quiting smoking cigarettes by first switching to a non addictive herbal replacement and then stopping that.
If you get something like damiana (yes legal) its a minor euphoric, which is good because it will dispel the anxiety from the nicotine addiction.
physically smoking the herb also satisfies the physical smoking habit.
once you beat the chemical addiction you can then work on the physical habit.
im not sure what that product you mentioned has in it but generally i think its better to just get herb leaf than a product... as it can be hard to know what stuff they put it in it.Has anyone used quot;New Roots Herbal - Stop Smokingquot; successfully? -

and the nicotine replacement stuf is crap by the way.I quit 4 years ago after 3 years of smoking. I found that for me my smoking was more physcological and habitual than addiction. I always smoked more when I was in my car or when I drank. So I quit by replacing the cigarette with (I know it sounds silly) dum dum lollipops. It gave me something to hang onto and focus on. when I drank I would suck on straws. It looked weird for a while but it worked! And I wasn-t too hard on myself right away. I slipped up now and then, but I never bought another pack. Not having them on hand makes it easier to forget about them. GOOD LUCK!chew gum when ever you want one the craving will pass for a little bit.
also try to make one pack last say 3 days and increase it by a day after that and so on. good luck,noSee your doctor, he should be able to find some quit smocking organisations.
You may want to tell him/her that you do not prefer one method of treatment but another if you think that this is better for you.If you were me, you would be able to do anything.Cold Turkey.I don-t have any personal experience because I have never smoked or will ever smoke, but I think having a friend help you quit is the best way. Get a friend to help monitor and watch over you. Whenever you get a craving, try eating something or shift your focus to something else. Excercising is supposedly a great way to do this and it-s been proven to help you quit. Plus, it-s good for you especially if you were a smoker. Oh, and try reading up on the negative effects of smoking, it-ll keep you determined and remind you why you decided to quit in the first place. Print out a picture of a smoker-s lungs and keep it with you. That-ll definitely do the trick.I just put them down and took it one day at a time.....I have not smoked in 1 yr 2mo and 4 days....after over 7yrs smoking.....and I still am taking it day by day. I still have cravings but no where near as bad....and they are rare.JUST DO IT!!!! make a conscious decision and stick to it! Don-t say -oh, I-ll just take a drag- it doesn-t help. To really quit, you have to stick to your guns. If you have no, or little self control, then go to your doctor and ask about CHANTIX, the latest and greatest stop smoking pill. It won-t kill the craving right away, but what it does is block the nicotine receptors in your brain, so your craving will eventually die. Keep your head held high and don-t give in! soon you-ll be smoke free!
GOOD LUCK!!did you try the new gum stuff?I smoked and what i did was i found something else i like better it could be somthing to eat, drink or an activity that u like better and whenever u get the craving of the ciggerettes do that thing u like better to hold u off.best way i think is cold turkey=whenever you get the desire for a some hang around a bunch of smokers you will get your fix and find that soon you wont want be anywhere near cigarettes at allthe best way to stop smoking is by chewing gum instead of smokin on a cigarette.
trust me this works
it helped me stop
been smoke-free since 2 weeks!Anyone know some tips to stop smoking? -

has anyone done that or used anything else? Let me know what u used and how it worked for you. Thanks :)Don-t know about the pill but, my supervisor smoked three paks a day . Went to the hospital to have a growth removed above the roof of his mouth.
While recovering - he was put in the cancer ward. While there he witnessed people with parts of their jaws, teeth, parts of tongues gone, inoperable tumors in the throat, etc.
Scared him so bad - he quit on the spot and so did his wife.
Worked better than the pill.
I Had three good friends that smoked - They are all dead.
Give him all the help you can.you mean chantix?
OH HELL NO!
it seriously changes ppl. i have heard of ppl killing other ppl on it, trying to kill themselves and just becoming weird on it.
tell him not to do it!
there are other ways of quitting, try those first.I used both Wellbutrin and Zyban to quit smoking. Not at the sametime of course. They worked but I also kept those little star peppermints around and everytime I wanted to smoke, popped one of those in my mouth. Hard candy seems to help with the oral fixation of having a ciggarette in your mouth, I have no idea why though. Good luck to him and congrats...I work as a nurse and a patient i look after is on medication for controlling her huge smoking habit,it has not helped her,in fact she continues to full on chain smoke.A lot of ppl smoke out of habit and the need to have an oral fixation, hence some ppl turn to food as an oral replacement to smoking, this is just a transfer of addictions.
Quitting has to come from within ,whilst an external crutch may help,it-s up to the individual ability to self motivate and ppl around to support their efforts, never chastise them if they fall off the wagon, encourage and support .My fiance wants to stop smoking, he is thinking about that pill that helps..? -

How to stop smoking on your own? -
Hey I-ve been smoking. I-m in my own rehab right now have not been going well. Been under a lot of stress. I stop so far for 3 days. Any tips on to stop smoking with out seeing anyone? And also I-m always on my own. Parents don-t know this but yeah. Not telling them. Anyways. And if I could I would differently buy a black right now. But I-m not. Anyways, does anyone have any tips/advice of not smoking? I-m pretty much relying on my faith with god in my life. I almost was thinking about doing cocaine but that would be even more stupid for me. So I-m gonna force myself not to do cocaine. I just tips/ advice.
Thanks. God bless. You need a lot of will power, i have been smoking since i was 14 im 35 now! too long i wish i had never started. i find i can go 6 or 8 hours sometimes with out thinking or wanting a cigarette, if you have a past-time or Hobie some thing you enjoy doing, that-s what helps me. Try to think positive, an old saying -your like the folk you hang out with- do not be tempted to take cocaine on any account, its a far worse drug than you can imagine, its something you really don-t want to get into, i can say that if it wasn-t for my upbringing and the fact i educated my self i would probably have got into it too. im so glad i have never taken hard drugs. life is so wonder full, there-s a million billion things we can be doing, the last thing you ever want to do is wreck your body, this will in the long term only come back on you in later life. life has its ups an downs, the only thing i can say is stressing about it will not do you any good. its usually due to some kind of trauma or problems in the home, bad influence, that leads to drug taking. it was the influence of friends at school an at the time i guess i just thought it was cool to do it because my friends were.
you need to have a routine in your life, its someting so many of need but some how some were along the way we get lost or led along by peeps that want to be popular, showing off, this kind of influence gets us no were. try an find time to rediscover do the things you like but most important we are here to make an example, so long as we are not harming any one an trying our best to be the best we can thats what makes shiny happy people, the world could do with a lot more of this its what makes us happy an content! enjoy who you are be what you want to be, the rest will come to you ! good luck, i hope this has helped you, Peace.keep on prayingHow to stop smoking on your own? -
