Im trying to stop smoking but Im not sure if I really want to -- is it really that bad? -

I-m 25 and have smoked for the last five years or so. I was smoking about a half a pack a day, but now am down to just 3-5 cigarettes a day. Problem is I really enjoy smoking and am not sure that just smoking a few a day is really that bad for my health. I mean aren-t all the warnings about how smoking causes cancer based on people smoking a pack a day for like 40 years? After all, I am still young and I don-t smoke that much.Getting cancer or other things from it vary from person to person. I have relatives who have smoked for 30 yrs and are quite ok. But then there are people who only do it for a few years and get cancer.I was in the same predicament as you about a month ago, I found it helped by not smoking in your car and hanging around people who didn-t smoke. I was really worried about the cravings I would have, like being really irritable and really wanting one to maybe even getting physically ill, but I was actually really happy when I quit. I don-t even think twice about it. When I was starting to quit I would smoke a cigarette in the morning and one at night, then I just quit all together.Just picture how awful your lungs are................................keep picturing...............................… at the lungs of a smoker and BELIEVE ME,if that doesnt stop you then you are indeed in some serious trouble.

I dont judge,I smoked for about a year when i was 15.
im 17 now and just to see people smoking makes me wanna get away from them.

Its not just the nicotine. Its also the other 50+ chemicals they out in cigarettes. Also the main problem is habit.
We have been used to having body sensations which we translate as -my body needs something, which we have attempted to satisfy by having a cigarette.
When we try to stop smoking, we still get these -my body needs something- sensations, and we still feel that we want a cigarette. We have to train our body to be more selective. When we feel we need something, we have to work out what it is that we actually need.
A glass of water is an excellent substitute if nothing else comes to mind, as it helps with the clearance of the toxic substances in our body. Another good substitute is a bag of salted peanuts, used in combination with the water.
Another thing to do is to find an activity which occupies the mind or body. Go swimming - nobody wants to smoke while they are swimming. Slowly, as our body adjusts and translates the -want something- feelings into something other than cigarettes, then the feelings begin to go away. We know its not a cigarette that the body really needs, because as soon as we-ve had one we still have the feeling, and want another!JUST QUIT IT NOT WORTH IT IT IS ALL IN YOUR MIND THROW THEM NASTY THINGS AWAYWhat kind of question is this?

I found this site...

... that might be helpful. But how a laser could have an impact on a craving like smoking beats the daylights out of me.

Is my heart pounding from smoking marijuana? -

i smoke a lot of weed. at least 5 times a day (lots more probably) for about 4 years now and everything was great, but a couple weeks ago i started to get very intense head spins so i went to the hospital they took my blood sugar level which i saw was 6.7 or something like that and they took my blood pressure. they just told me that it was from smoking weed and that they cant help me and that i should stop smoking it. i was sick the next 2 days after that and didn-t smoke any weed. But now whenever i get high my heart beats really fast and feels funny, and my chest tightens up. its hard to enjoy getting high when your heart is beating so funny that its all you can focus on. i woke up this morning and my heart was kinda uncomfortable before i even smoked my morning bowl. sometimes i get lightheaded if i get to high or hit the bong.

are these just panic attacks? is it just the weed or is there actually something wrong with my heart?
I really don-t wanna stop smoking weed its all i have to look forward to right now. id do anything else just to keep smoking it.
ideas or advice? It is the weed making your heart beat so fast. It also causes paranoia. The weed is causing the panic/anxiety attacks. Who needs that? Especially since a doctor said to stop. It-s not worth it.
You-ve been smoking a lot for 4 years now. You-re lucky it-s not addictive! No withdrawal! That-s great. Spend some time being naturally high. It really is better. You-ll see.
The first thing I learned was:- Listen to your body. - Remember that for life! Right now your body does NOT want weed. Take a break. :)Your heat is pounding because you know you are going to get caught you filthy hippie.it increases heart rate and blood pressure.just dont get high anymore
