Why should I stop smoking marijuana? -

Why should I stop smoking marijuana? -

I-ve been smoking every day for more than 3 years. I never smoked in high school but when I first tried it in college I loved it! I already have a job and had to quit smoking for about 30-50 days at a time in order to pass drug tests. It felt really good to know that I can quit if I want and/or need to. But it seems like I-ve become dependent on it for stress-relief. I don-t smoke cigarettes at all and don-t do any other drugs...We-ve all heard people say -I could quit, I just don-t want to.- Some states even allow doctors to prescribe it to patients. Other states (Colorado...or maybe just Denver) allow people to possess it for personal and recreational use. What do u think?You-ve got everything under control, which I applaud you for. So many people can-t even see the difference between marijuana use and abuse, even though the two are miles apart...I think we-ve got Above the Influence to thank for this.

You say you feel like you depend on it for stress relief. Seems to me you-re uncomfortable with your recent use...everybody gets that sometimes. You might consider cutting back or stopping just for a couple weeks, breaks are always beneficial since they let you stay on top of it and make it easier not to slip into a cycle of abuse.

To the idiot that said -brain damage,- I agree with the other guy, you clearly suffer from that yourself to think such a thing. Marijuana itself doesn-t cause brain damage or any kind of problem, really; the abuse of it, however, can be a problem much the same as with anything else. Even water can kill you if you have too much. I-m not going to fall victim to your propaganda. You should stop if you have to get a job that gives pre-employment test or random test (unless you have their system down). Or maybe you should stop if you miss paying bills because u have to have it. How bout being on probation or parole... those are reasons to stop. Other than that, everyone has their own stress-relief that they depend on. Keep tokin! Blaze two, get at me in da mornin;!I-ve been there and understand, but I quit and am glad I did. It is a great stress reliever, but I think it made me less ambitious. It enabled me to be content with my life when I shouldn-t have been. It keeps you from living fully. It-s costly, can send you to jail, and obtaining it can put you in dangerous situations. I must admit, I do occasionally miss it!You can get permanent brain damage from it, especially if your a teenager. You can get busted for it, and spend some time in the good ol big house. Plus, it can definitely get in the way of relationships. All around, why not quit if you can? It only gives benefits if you quit.Next time you get blazed ask yourself this: What is the trade-off? What will I get in return?
If you really want to quit, then you can easily. I suggest you quit because it really is a waste of money.I don-t see a reason for you to stop. Not at all.You cannot get brain damage from smoking pot. It can be abused just like any other drug. Some peoples definition of abuse is subjective. Nobody thinks twice about a mom or aunt popping a tranquilizer in a stressful moment, but that is abusing a drug too. The fact is, only about 1/10 of people in rehab abuse what are called street drugs. pot, coke, meth......

Here is another fact.
Not one, person EVER had died from smoking pot. Never......
Pot was only made illegal after a movie in the 30-s, made by people in the temperance movement, were able to successfully lobby congress. They used wild unfounded and highly racial stereotypes to play on latent bigotry, and the uneducated populus bought it because they just assumed that the information was correct. The only reason those laws are in effect today id because the hateful and ignorant people who passed them have yet to lay down and die, ridding us of an ugly legacy of racism and ignorance.-You can get permanent brain damage from it, especially if your a teenager. You can get busted for it, and spend some time in the good ol big house. Plus, it can definitely get in the way of relationships. All around, why not quit if you can? It only gives benefits if you quit. -

Permanent brain damage? You clearly have some brain damage to think that..

If you use it occasionally its no worse then alcohol.. which seems totally acceptable to most people. If you ever find that it gets in the way of your job or anything important than stop. Make sure its a recreational use.. not a habit.

What shall i do to stop smoking?????? I really want to quit but its so hard and im only 17!? -

im sure theres so many people in my position so if you were a teenager and you were addicted and now you stoped what is the secret? You won-t be able to stop smoking because everyone that says they want to are weak and they generally lay off for a week or even a month, but don-t quit.
At 17....it is a great age to stop. And... I would hope you do for your health and for the nonsmokers who pay for careless smokers.
Patch I would say.
If you hang out with friends that smoke that wont help.
If you hang out in a bar where people tend to drink n smoke that won-t help.
If you have gotten into a routine try doing something different and using that aid...like a patch.
I never smoked, but I know it is a damn drug.
If there is something you need to do to fix the oral fixation like candy or something try that.
But in the end you might need that patch cuz of that nicotine craving along with changing your habits. No prob dude.
Only you can decide on fully quitting.
I do know that the longer you keep smoking the harder it will be to quit fully.
But...it can be done.

how are you getting your smokes?? it is illegal for you to be smoking at 17. but I won-t say anything about that... if you find a way to stop smoking let me KNOW asap.... I am old enough to be of legal age, but it is hard to stop once you start and are addicted....start working out, and stick with it. the endorphines will definetly help you. it will be hard in the beginning but start with walking on the treadmill. and chew lots of gumyou shouldn-t have started in the first place. What I would do is chew the nicotene gum. If that doesn-t work, try just not using it for a couple of days and instead of smoking....run...or drink coffee...try the patch.Go to the doctor and get a prescription for Chantix. It-s expensive, but it works. Just be prepared...one of the side effects is the dreams you-ll have. Talk about intense!

There are a variety of smoking cessation aids available. Some require a prescription from a doctor, while others are available over-the-counter. I-m sure your doctor could provide more information for you. They sometimes prescribe the antidepressant Wellbutrin (also called Zyban I think) but it doesn-t do much. The best thing is to simply get the nicotine patches and use them fully as directed for a couple of months. They take the edge off the nicotine withdrawal, but you got to seriously want to quit.i want to know this too!:)you can get a rx patch or they can give you wellbutin it is a depressent pill but it works my doc gave it to me.busbar or wellbutrin
