Here are a few natural ways to help curb your need for a cig:

Slippery Elm Bark: I think this is a great SUPER-herb. Great for so many things. Have a cup of Slippery Elm Bark tea when you feel like you want to have a smoke. OR

Place two table spoons of powdered slippery elm bark into a bowl pour in a small amount of honey and sirt it around until you have a nice dough, you can roll them in a bit more of the SEB powder or cinnamon or even powdered sugar for some flavor. Suck on one everytime you feel you need a ciggarette. You can find SEB tea or powder in any health food store.

Marjoram tea will dry out your throat making it so you won-t enjoy those ciggarettes so you could drink a cup of it before you have a smoke. Marjoram is really sweet so you don-t need to add a sweetener. There is only one best way to avoid smoking. Control on yourself.

When you tried your best to avoid it you can stop smoking otherwise its not possible. Pills or other things are just a reason to satisfy your self to remember that your are trying to stop this bad habit.

If you take pills or try to avoid smoking in any condition surely you will stop it.Did you try the pills that doctors prescribe? They say that that works the best. My step father had to quit smoking b/c of his illness and so they prescribed him pills to help him stop. My husband..still smokes but when he goes to quit he will be trying those pills. The problem with the patches and gum and all is that they contain the nicotine. Nicotine is what your body craves. So no they would not be good. When you go to quit officially and try again make sure that for a week or two you do not surround yourself around other smokers so that you can try to get yourself over the hump. The best way is cold turkey. It-s because of the way nicotine works in your body. You need to get all the nicotine out of your brain, so that it can start rewiring itself. It takes about 3 days to get all the nicotine out of your system. So if you try to gradually work your way down, your body will never have a chance to rewire its synapses and basically retrain your thoughts.

I know it-s hard, but it will get easier and easier as the hours and days pass. Another thing that helps is having support from other people, and something to motivate you. Try to think of something really important to you, like saving the money, or your health. Good luck. :)The way I quit smoking was cold turkey and will power. I tried cutting back, gum nothing worked. Finally I said f this. I-m tired of smoking, and stopped. It-s really hard. You will need something to occupy yourself. Gum, hard candy, stress balls, little hand toys. That-s what has worked for me. (2 months smoke free!!!)Get a hold of some really good pictures of what your lunges look like after smoking for awhile. I smoked for twenty years(3 packs a day) You have to want to quit( I mean REALLY want ti QUIT) !
Get yourself in that mind-set, and throw away all your smoking toys.
Lighters, ashtrays, pack holders--Everything!
Then just tell yourself that your not going to let a chemical rule your life.
Good luck!First - be sure you really want to quit
Second - get a friend that you can lean on
Third - Know that you can and will succeed
Fourth - take it one butt at a time.
Fifth - Stay away from places, people, and things that remind you of smoking.
Sixth - find something to do with your hands.Well this is how I stopped. You see I smoked menthols so whenever I wanted to smoke I would suck on a Halls cough drop. The more yucky tasting the better, I hated the cherry ones. If you smoke non-menthols go and see your doctor he might have a good idea of what to do.A good product to stop smoking is on this website : http://www.stopsmoking4good.org or you can email ContactOwner@stopsmoking4good.orgCold turkey and a little somethign called willpower :PI quit using hypnosis....

Of course it is - it-s withdrawal symptoms. You-re doing really well. Don-t give in now. You-ll feel much better soon, when the cravings die away, and be much healthier without all that tar clogging up your lungs. Good luck.Yep your brains going cold turkey doesn-t sound like the patches are doing much for ya...
Are you sure your on the right strenght for what you used to smoke?
People don-t realise it-s not just the not smoking it-s finding stuff to do with yourself aswell!!
I failed...used the patches for 3 months put on a stone got annoyed and had a smoke!!I have heard of people experiencing these symptoms if they didnt smoke very many cigarettes and then start using a patch because the patch is a much higher level of nicotine than what they got when they smoked.Yes it is normal, it should go away with time. That-s why sometimes doctors will prescribe a light anti depressant called Zyban (not to sure on the spelling).Hmm im not a smoker so not very experienced but paranoia doesn-t sound like something you-d get because of not smoking, the rest seem normal. I could be wrong.hi mate yes its normal u are withdrawingPeople who have never smoked will never understand what it-s like to withdraw from cigarettes. WHat you are experianceing is normal. Do you have friends or family you can be around for company and support?
(I have now not smoked for over a year now and I have survived!) The last two times I quit I felt like I was spaced out all the time and it freaked me out. PLease stick with it, you-re doing so so well. Soon you will start to feel normal.

Also, r u using the correct patch dosage? this is important.
I not that you say you-re feeling depressed or as you say really depressed. Maybe you should go to your docs for a chat because this could get worse which is what you don-t want/ Also you can get patches free on the NHS
good luck and keep going

I have just given up smoking but cannot use nicotine patches etc as they make me ill but i cant get out of the bad mood that im in and im on the verge of strangling my 3 year old daughter. How long will i feel this way and does anybody have any tips for staying off the fags but staying in a good mood?Drink a lot of water, eat things with protein, peanuts, peanut m-m-s that sort of thing. The cravings are strongest for the first three days as the nicotine gets out of your system after that it-s psychological. Taking walks helps, too and they [walks] might tire your little one out enough to take a nap and give you a break. Best of luck to you and if you need a smoking cessation buddy, I am here for you.it doesn-t last too long, but it is different for everybody, I munched on carrot sticks when I was craving a cigarette. I couldn-t use patches etc as I was pregnant. A good tip is to avoid alcohol for a couple of months, especially if you tended to smoke more when you had a drink.Hahahaha. Try not to strangle her! You should only feel this way this STRONGLY for the first 3 days or so. Try eating sunflower seeds or chew gum in the meantime. Affirmations for quitting smoking (-I breathe clean, fresh air. I am stronger than any habit-)are a good way to remind you of the reasons for quitting smoking. Good luck! I-ll be going through what you-re going through soon because I plan to try quitting (AGAIN!) also...I gave up smoking 5 months ago having read Allen Carr-s Easy Way to Stop Smoking. I cannot recommend it enough, it changed my life! Forget patches, gum or other replacement therapies - Allen Carr completly changes your way of thinking regarding smoking. I smoked for 20 years and thought I-d be a smoker till the day I die (literally!). In his book he has great psychological advice for giving up including how to get past the first few days/weeks of not smoking.

Also, the herb St John-s Wort is very good at treating mild depression, etc so you could give that a go - this might help alleviate your mood swings.

Most of all, keep it up, you CAN do it and please...read Allen Carr-s book!get you hands to do something come on Internet draw etc angry count to 100excersise!!!!!The answers that you-re seeing are actually right. The most successful stop smoking method is going Cold Turkey. It-s the most successful by FAR. But you have to be to the point of disgust where you-re ready to make the decision to just stop.

I stopped smoking without getting ratty with the help of two things, one was Allen Carr-s book and the other nicotine gum.
It took me three attempts to succeed but I realise now I wasn- t really ready to give up on the first two attempts.
You have to really really want to give up for it to succeed it-s no good if you are giving up because the media is telling you to.
I have heard that using oil of black pepper in a burner takes away the craving but I haven-t been able to get hold of any yet.try the nicotine gum...

When you get your blood drawn at the doctors without a drug test, does marijuana show up? -

My friend is sick, and i told her to stop smoking weed a long time ago, but she still does it. she is worried she-ll be caught.take my word for it, i was in the military and had random drug tests all the time. being friends with the doctors that did the tests, here is what i learned. when you have your blood drawn they have to pay to check out certain things, for example, cholestrol, diseases....etc. to check for the presence of drugs they have to run certain tests on the blood. a doctors office wont pay the extra money to check this if they don-t have to. a court order can make them, but i wouldnt worry about it. unless she is a minor she has nothing to worry about anyways because of patient/doctor confidentiality laws. so in conclusion the answer is no. your friends mom i think can however ask the doctors to check for drugs, at her expense, if she is under 18If they are not testing for drugs it will not show up.No it will not. They have to run a drug screen to get those results. She has nothing to worry about.sure it will when they draw blood they typically screen the blood for anything, for proper diagnosisyesyes...it shows up in your test up to 1 month after you-ve smoked\inhaled it.who,s gonna catch her, a doctor? big deal, they cant do anything unless she is being court-ordered to provide a blood sample for a toxicology report. she should keep on puffinEven though its not a drug test, marijuana may trigger some other tests to go off. So, there is a possibility she may get caught.
