It is SO hard to stop smoking...anyone been successful at cutting back? -
I quit for almost 2 years now. I used the patch and the pill both! I quit on the 12th of may and my dad died on the 16th, everyone knew I-d start back smoking but that only made me stronger because he always lectured me about it. I am so proud of myself!! I still want one sometimes but I really feel better, gained 30 pounds but I feel better!Just say NO!The only successful quitters I know went cold turkey and suffered until they got over it.i been pretty well smoke free except for ceremonial use...i am first nations...other then that i quit cold turkey...wasn-t easy...the first month is the hardest i think...well it was for me anyways lol.The habitual triggers that make you want to smoke, are usually the most challenging to quit, more so than the actual nicotine, which is out of your system by 1 - 3 days. But they are just learned habits you-ve got into, and habits can be unlearned and replaced with better things. Get plenty of help at this website:

I was unable to cut back and had to quit cold turkey. I relapsed on 3 different occasions before I was finally able to put it down for good. My advice to you is to go on a total health kick that involves giving up all harmful substances(including meat and junk food)and involves exercise and Bible study. If you substitute an increase in someother harmful substance such as alcohol, caffeine, junk food, or meat for smoking you could still be in serious trouble.I quit maybe a thousand times until I got hypmotized and this worked not smoked in 20 years and if not quit I would be in bad trouble wished I could have quit sonnerIt is SO hard to stop smoking...anyone been successful at cutting back? -

OK I know this question comes up a few times but I need a little advice. Ive been smoking for years and very addicted. Im trying to stop without medication or NRT by gradually cutting down. What do you think of my idea? What has worked for you? Or have you tried everything but failed? I would also like to know how much better you felt when you gave up.I smoked for ten years and when I gave up smoking, it was just finally time. When you-re ready, you-re ready. I didn-t use meds, or gradually cut down, or anything else. I just quit. I-d tried other methods in the past, but in the end, I think it just comes down to you have to want to stop. And God, yes - I felt so much better. It was like night and day. Good luck. The best thing you have already done is to decide to want to stop smoking. Gradually cutting down is a good way , for you to stop.
It is your own idea, and that is what counts . I have followed the same path many years ago,and after a few failed attempts, asked the Lord for strength . That was when I was able to quit, and could not stand the smell of tobacco or cigarette smoke any more. This has been 30 years ago, Now when I look back, the wanting or craving for another cigarette, was strong, the irritation of not having one, and perhaps the salivating , are the worst symptoms of withdrawal. Finding something to do with the hands that held the cigarette, such as typing, knitting, crochet, or sowing, drawing or painting, can be very helpful.Getting a lot exercise and breathing in fresh air is good as well, it will release a lot of tension. Whatever you do, if you fail, do not give up, try again and again. Giving up smoking is the best thing I have done for myself, and it feels like an accomplishment .No ashtrays are needed, and my handbag is clean. Treat yourself with something special, with the money saved, and help others once you are smoke free. Best wishes for successI-ve never smoked but my sister stopped smoking about 2 years ago. She did it cold turkey. She drank alot of coffee at the time and I guess that helped her through. She-s been smoke free ever since. She-s felt much better now that she has stopped. Don-t give up trying to stop. Good luck!I know how it was for. Smoking was how I dealt with depression, so it sucks for me sometimes too. I just decided to quit smoking one day and I stopped. That worked for me. I pretty sure that people would love to help you and motivate you.before u know it u have already diagnosed like this----a scar in the upper apex of the left lungs.and a note like this---unfit to work, not allowed travel abroad....a future was shattered.so EASY!just STOP IT.IT WILL BE ALL IN UR SELF DISCIPLINE.NO DRUGS,NO PERSON,NO CANDY.ONLY U CAN STOP THIS UR WILLINGNESS!GUESS IM NEAR TO UR QUESTIONMy roommates kept all the cigarettes from me. It took quite q while but I feel I saved my life.
Good luck, it won-t be easy.Just stop buying cigarettes. It-s easier than you think.Best way to stop smoking? -

Nope, but it massively reduces your risk of dying! Not necessarily but your body will function a lot better because of the added oxygen it will be getting. Only problem is you will have a tendency to put on weight because of it so will need to watch and adjust accordingly.
Think of it this way:
When you are smoking your body is like a car with a clogged air filter barely getting enough air to chug along. wasting a lot of the fuel (food) you are putting into it giving you poor performance barely able to make it up the hill. Getting passed by little old ladies on bicycles.
Completely winded just walking from office to car:
When you are not smoking your body is like a car with a clean air filter making maximum use of the fuel (food) you are putting into it able to step on the gas and pass that annoying truck (lorrie) going up hill.
Able, with a little work, to run 30 miles with full combat field pack, rifle and two canteens of water.makes you put on weight I can tell you that, since stopping I-ve upt on 3 stone and my blood pressure is dangerously high, unlike when I was smoking.. I suspect my cholesterol is high too. I am thinking about starting smoking again, I was a lot better off before!!No. But stopping smoking is a brilliant idea, go on do it, you wont smell anymoreYES it does.Yes and no - quitting smoking right now comes with a ton of benefits. As far as cholesterol, that is mainly your diet. Look at it - if you are eating high cholesterol foods, your cholesterol is high. Get plenty of fruit and vegis in every meal. You may want to seek help from a doc - there are medicines that can knock that crap down quick. Good luckI-m not sure if it directly lowers your cholesterol, but it will certainly reduce your blood pressure.
The effect of tobacco in your bloodstream increases your heart-rate, whilst constricting the size of your blood vessels (I believe).
The cumulative effect of having a smaller sized passage for the blood to flow through, plus the increased rate at which the blood is trying to get round your system dramatically increases your blood pressure - which isn-t great.
So, really, even if quitting doesn-t do much to your cholesterol, it can-t do you any harm! Not sure about cholesterol..
But it for sure lowers CHD-s and lung diseases.
But drinking green tea...and having Olive oil reduces cholesterol
and you live longer. If you stop smoking does it lower your cholesterol? -
