How to lose weight while smoking? -

What is most effective way of losing weight while smoking? I intend to stop smoking soon, but am struggling to do both at once at the moment. I have started a weigt watchers program too, maybe a week or twos grace would be enough. Any ideas?drink alot of water.. i mean alot . at least 2 cups before every meal, because when you do quit smoking your appetite will skyrocketSmoking is a stimulant, so smokers already weight about 15 pounds less than non-smokers on average. It-s like taking diet pills. But don-t let that discourage you from stopping -- the smoking is more harmful to your health than the weight. And don-t try to do both at once -- you-re likely to fail. Rather, do what medical authorities suggest and conquer the smoking first. After you-ve gotten past your smoking addiction, you can diet and exercise to take care of the weight. No magic pills, alas, but I-ve always found that getting rid of rich foods -- not just the obvious cookies and candy but the really concentrated caloric stuff like oils and high glycemic index foods like white flour, white rice, and potatoes -- works wonders. And researchers have found that you can keep weight off over the long term by exercising regularly, whereas if you just diet chances are you-ll always be hungry and will eventually break down and gain it back.Although I can-t condone smoking, it is known to supress your appetite. I do smoke myself, and I am starting Atkins over the coming weekend. I understand you pain, and although it-s not especially going to be agreed with everyone else, I-d continue the weight watchers and stop smoking when you have made your goal weight.

Even my doctor agreed that it-d be taking too much on at one point to give up smoking as well as dieting at the same time. The chances are you-ll end up failing at both. I know it-s probably controversial but my advice is to quit smoking after the diet.

Good luck!! :)It-s verrrry difficult because usually you switch from smoking to eating, or chewing sugary gum. It-s better to do one after the other (so, quit before you start losing weight). But, maybe if you started excercising more while quitting smoking, it would keep your mind off the cravings and burn off the extra calories you-re eating to compensate for the lack of cigarettes? Otherwise I-ll tell you now, you-ll be just about ready to kill someone before the week is out :PPeople normally find that when they smoke they loose weight as you will pile the pounds on when you quit because you will replace the fags with food.

I have done weight watchers and is a good diet to follow. The points plan works wonders, but it takes time, but that means the weight will keep off.

I would advise to stop smoking before hand though bcos then it will be a wasted effort when you loose weight as it will just pile back on and more xunfortunately - i fanything - smoking aids weight loss. it increases your motabolism and supresses appetite so losing weight -whilst smoking- isnt really an issue.

Just do plenty of cardio exercise to neutralise the damage you are doing to your fitness/circulation levels.

When your at your target weight and you stop smoking 9 times out of ten you WILL put on weight. alot of people replace the addiction with snacking!

Try this. It is a running program that is designed to go from extremely light to more intense as the weeks go by. You don-t have to follow it religiously in terms of the weeks you go up. For ex., instead of going up every week, you can go up every two weeks.

A friend of mine who has been smoking for the overwhelming majority of his life used this program and can run very well now even though he could probably do better if he gives up on smoking.Water is good as the other person suggested.

You do have to find something to slow the cravings down, besides eating. So you can get a patch or some spray that works when you rub it on your palms (ask a medical professional for something to try take the edge off).

If you have to eat, make good choices. Eating Low GI (glycemic index) foods will be a good way to spread the nutrition and energy over a longer period of time (which means less of it will be stored as fat).
Low GI is good for sustained energy without picking up weight.

Good luck.Stop smoking first then lose the weight. You will probably gain weight when you quit so not much point going to the trouble to diet beforehand.
The good thing about stopping smoking is that you-ll have a lot more energy to exercise and you will feel good about yourself and in a much more positive frame of mind to lose weight. No magic answer I can think of. Smoking is very difficult to quit and much of it is an oral habit which is why so many people replace haveing a smoke with eating something.

The only way I quit and did not gain too much (5 lbs) was to replace the action of smoking with another action! When I wanted a cig, I walked around the block, put in a load of laundry, did 10 sit ups, cleaned out the junk drawer, called a friend, walked the dog, etc.
I relapsed a few times, but you can-t beat yourself up about that. Just try to go longer and longer without smoking.

It took about 6 months for me to totally quit and I still have dreams about smoking. But I can say that I really don-t ever want one again. My overall health and energy has improved drastically!

Good luck, I know you can do this!!!i quited 2 years ago and belive me i thoug about the same how much weight am i gonna gain but don-t you worry it depends how you body is i was 234 lbs. back then and i only gained 6 pound after quiting you are gonna get a lot of feelings like maybe hungry all the time the best thing to do is eat some fruits and be happyI gave up smoking in january...and I have gained weight...be very careful. I have tried so hard not to eat but every time I want a ciggie.......I nibble on something.smoking has no real effect om your weight. diet and exercise does best. working out help more than just the body you know.Tackle the weight loss first. Trying to do both means you-ll fail at both and will revert back to your old habits.stop smoking first you might actually lose weight but if you keep smoking you won-t live to see that dayDo one at a time. trying to cut too many things at once is gonna do your head in!eat celery! you use more calories eating it than you gain! good luck!!!!u dont . it is starving your self

When i try to work out, i get out of breath faster than i use to. So if i stop smoking will that make me loose a little weight?thats obvious dude........any type of smoking either mild, strong, black or whatevr harms ur respiratory system which leads to contraction of the lungs........and as u mentioned that u breath faster as usual during work out.......it is the sign that u r starting to burn ur life!!!!!!!
so stop smoking........otherwise u-ll get smoked!!!!!Cigars are not poison... they-re delicious.

Yeah, smoking definatly hurts your endurance quite a bit, I love to smoke hookah and whenever I do I have a much harder time working out the next week, you-ll have a much easier time if you quit.

If you want to be serious about your training you should at least cut back to just one on the weekend or something like that.THEIR POISON YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STOP DUMMY!!!!
