Whats the best way to stop smoking? -

Whats the best way to stop smoking? -

I did smoke 30 a day, I-ve managed to cut down but I just can-t quit completely...I really want to but I just get so edgy and all I can think about is that cigarette!

I heard hypnotherapy and things like that work, but it-s a little out of my price range! Also I hate gum, and lollypops just don-t do the trick! I tried patches and although they stop me feeling like complete hell when I don-t smoke, they don-t take away the mental factor!

Any ex-smokers out there got any good tips?keep on weening yourself... less cigarettes a day, plus, ontop of that dont smoke the entire cig. its a slow process, but the least painful thing (mentally). 1 pack a day / week, next week only do 15 cigs a day/ week, and so - on.

eventually, 1 pack / week.

when you get stressed out, try physical activities instead. a nice workout session at the gym keeps your mind busy, body healthy, and motivation strong.First you need to stop the cigarettes, then you need to stop the habit. You have to replace your cigarette urges with something else - my father used pistachios, almonds, sunflower seeds, and mr. freeze popsicles. Every time you crave a cigarette, have something else. It-ll re-train your brain. Then, when you have that under control, you can work on eliminating the actual habit of smoking. Use nicotine patches and gradually diminish the amount of cigarettes per day.

Cigarettes actually change the way that you concentrate and focus, so it will be rough at first but then your brain will re-learn how to concentrate without them. The most important thing is your will-power!You will get a dozen different answers from a dozen different people. I am an ex-smoker and my method was cold turkey, while my best friend quit through a smoking cessation group. The best method for you is the one that works. I would start with the cheapest method first: cold turkey. There are free quitlines you could call with counselors to assist you when your cravings are bad. If cold turkey doesn-t work for you, you could try finding a local group, or if you prefer do do it in private, try switching brands, strengths, and flavors of cigarettes for a while to break that brand loyalty most smokers have. You could attempt the gum or patch after that, and if all else fails, consult your doctor about prescription medicines designed to help in quitting. I am never a big advocate of replacing one drug with another drug, so in my opinion this should be your last result.

Best of luck to you!Eliminate any possibilityy of getting cigarettes. Rip up the ones you currently have (hard as that may be to do), and try to get in the habit of taking a different route to work, one that doesn-t conveniently pass the drug store or gas station you usually go to. Fill up your schedule with a lot of busy indoor activity if you can, just keep yourself as busy as possible.

And if the patch helps even a little- then keep doing that. Find other ways to help relieve stress when you do have down time. Set small goals for yourself, set goals of building willpower and goals of quitting.

Reduce yourself a little every day, week, or month. Whatever you prefer. =)I don-t smoke tobacco so i don-t know how the lack of nicotine feels like, although i have friends who do and i do smoke some pot once in a while. The best way to do it is to gradually reduce the amount you smoke day by day, it seems to be partially working for my bud.. I-ve also heard about herbal smokes which may help with the mental part of it.

good luckI have been smoke free for two years now but used to smoke about 20 a day. I tried quite a few times to quit unsuccesfully but even though I was trying to quit I dont think I really wanted to.

Then one day I just woke up and said this is the day bought patches and that was it. The hardest part was when in social situations so when I first quit I avoided being sociable for about three weeks until I could control my cravings. Hope this helps and good luck! I know you will need it.oh no YOU WANT TO BE EX-SMOKER!
