How can you convince someone to stop smoking weed? -

How can you convince someone to stop smoking weed? -

When I met my boyfriend 9 months ago he wouldn-t even think about smoking weed. Then one weekend 2 months later he went to his cousins house and they talked him into -trying- it. Well since then it seems he has became addicted! It-s all he wants to do. All day, Every day. I have smoked too but I don-t like it the way he does. He seems to think it-s the best thing ever... But to me it-s kind of just a waste of money. about 4 months ago he got caught... he was arrested and put on probation, however... his grandmother who he lives with works at the court house and got him off the hook. I-m not sure why she would want to do that? She doesn-t want him near any drugs but I think by doing that he didn-t learn his lesson at all! A couple days ago he turned 18 and now I am really worried about him getting caught again, I don-t want him going to jail! I would think he would be smarter seeing both of his parents in jail ever since he was 3 for meth labs ect. But he is very stubborn. He said he knew he needed to stop but couldn-t because if he did he wouldn-t have anyone to hang out with seeing as all of his guy friends smoke too. I don-t think I can convince him to stop... I think he needs to be the one to want to stop but I just want to trick him or something to where he will want to stop sooner. Any advice? sorry this was so long. There have been recent studies that marijuana might increase the risk of testicular cancer in males from the ages of 20 and 35. Just tell him if he doesn-t quit smoking weed, his risk of getting testicular cancer will rise 70 percent. Haha, I don-t think any guy wants that. You can-t help someone who doesn-t want to help themselves. Dump him and move on! Sound tough but until he realises his own stupidity there is not a lot you can do.I used to smoke weed for three years straight, everyday 24/7. But I quit because I couldn-t get any jobs due to the drug screenings and all of that. So I suggest you tell your BF to stop smoking because money will eventually run out for him and he wouldn-t have any way to support himself. He needs to get away from those friends cuz they-re bad influences. I noticed I that now I quickly forget things. Tell him if he wants a good future and be successful and stuff, stop smoking weed. I got kicked outta school and now I-m getting my GED to be a chef.

If he really loves you tell him, he-ll stop. But if he doesn-t stop, get a new BF.

Is anybody out there who has successfully stop smoking, and if so how did you do it? been trying for a while -

i have tried numerous times but i just go back to it. maybe somebody out there has something for me. i-m 38 and i started since i was 18, i have been smoking off and on for twenty years, once i stopped for almost two years and while pregnant i was able to stop immediately. I don-t want to die, i want to be able to see my children grow and maybe one day have grandkids.I didn-t smoke but I saw the results of my one friend. She smoked for 11 or more years. Smoke Away actually worked for her. What it does is it makes you sick to your stomach to smell it but if you try and actually smoke a cig. it will make you sick. If you are serious about quitting this is the stuff. Good Luck!I smoked since i was 13 yrs old i stopped about 4 years ago. I wore the patch for two weeks and also carried my cigarette case around with cut up straws in it and every time i wanted a cigarette i would pull out a straw and chew on it, that way my hands and mouth was doing something and i was busy and not even thinking about smoking. In 1979 I quit after smoking for 10 years anywhere from 5 cigarettes to two packs a day. I moved from New York to California in 1977. Cut down to about 5 a day kept cutting down. and by November 1979 i quit with no side effects no weight gaining, no shaking and never had the urge to have one since. This might be quite a long time but I never went back to it. Quitting cold turkey causes shaking weight gaining, and usually people go back to it.
I also know people who have done it with hypnosis. There also several different types of patches to use. Your doctor might even have a shot or medication.I smoked for 17 years. I started with the patch for two weeks but I felt that it wasn-t doing anything for me so I stopped using it. I have now been smoke free for 2 1/2 years. Remember, the urge is only temporary and it will pass.

Congratulations and good luck! There are certain medications that you can get from your doctor that can help with this...Zyban is one. But what I found that worked best for me was to change some of the habits I had that centered around my smoking and everytime I got the -urge- for a smoke I got up and did something ......took a walk, did exersises, chewed gum, embroidery, various other things, things to keep me busy and my mind off the cigarettes, ....I smoked for 35 years, but I did it!!!......It-s one of the hardest things to do and I wish you all the luck in the world!!!!The patch.....But the first two weeks still suckCheck out

I have not been able to quit yet but this site has some good ideasI tried for years to quit smoking. every time I tried real hard I smoked more. I was about to give up even trying. A friend in my church suggested that I sign a contract with God that I would quit. As soon as I signed my name, I never smoked another cigarette. I can-t say there were never times that I didn-t have the urge, but it wasn-t often and it wasn-t so intense. It was easy to get through them by just reminding myself of that contract.I just quit cold turkey. Chew lots of gum and when you feel the need for a cigarette, exercise or do something healthy for yourself. Good Luck!I quit when I got pregnant with my daughter 30 years ago - never picked it back up with the exception of the occassional drag if I was at a club and drinking - don-t even do that any more tho - I quit cold turkey - my daughter also started smoking when she was in high school (ah peer pressure!) but has since quit because her 3 little ones fussed at her so much - she too just quit cold turkey - the trick is to not hang with folks who smoke and not drink alcohlic drinks (for whatever reason this was what would cause me to pick up a cigarette again) until you are sure you are strong enough to say No and mean it! It is hard - I-ve heard of folks using the patch and saying it worked for them but for me it was just making up my mind I didn-t want to smell or taste like an ashtray! Good Luck and God Bless! You have to truly want to quit. Cold turkey, I am on day 3 of not smoking. My husband and I are doing it together. You need a support team behind you. Write down all the reasons you want to quit and look at that when you crave a cigarette. Know the cravings will go away with time. I invision myself free of smoking. No more smelly me! The things I am going to do with the money I save and the example I am setting for my children. I will not gain weight because I will replace smoking with exercise. Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I joined a gym and went cold turkey. It was difficult but I had only smoked for about 4 years. I worked out a lot and after about two weeks the urges really died off. To be totally honest, I quit almost 7 years ago and there are still times when I want to smoke, especially if I am out drinking. I tried to focus on why I wanted to quit when the urges came and it seemed to work. I wish you all the best because it is so difficult to stop.

Today I am coughing up crap and feel like I am getting a cold in my chest. My voice is almost gone, very raspy. Why am I getting sick after stopping something as bad as cigarettes. Is it de-tox?I was a long time smoker and our choir director always told us not to quit a few months before any important dates because the coating would be coming off our vocal chords and we-d be unable to sing well. She said you-d get raspy voice or lose it for a day or so, etc.
You are de-toxing. ConGratUlaTions!!! Take a little extra fruit juice, drink a bit more water for the next week, take an aspirin or motrin or whatever to feel a tad better and get good rest. You-ll be finer than a fiddle in two more weeks! Promise!Listen up. It is good that u stopped and now ur body is wondering y it doesn-t have to work hard anymore. U overworked ur body and now its bored. U fought to many wars. go see a doctor and ask questions. ask them 4 something that might help.Because you addicted dumb *** your body-s feening itOH NO!!! use the phenomenal power of your mind to quit smoking .... really ......... focus clearly on what you want ....... not on what you don-t want ........ and tell yourself repeatedly over and over and over and over again that you are not addicted to nicotine ..... that there will be no detox side effects from not having nicotine and that you don-t smoke .... every single time your brain tells ya you want a smoke tell it you don-t smoke .... you are in control of this situation.. not the smokes... not your mind.... you..... i mean think about it logically..... if you tell somebody over and over that they are beautifull, ugly, smart or whatever.... they eventually believe it ... yeah?? ....... so just focus on what you want and go for it like a bull at a gate ..... be stubborn and persistent ........... YOU CAN DO THIS.... i believe in you.. you just need to believe in you...... honestly, this is how i quit those filthy poisonous things...... and there were no nasty detox side affects either........ because i didn-t BELIEVE that there were going to be... it near fries my brains you know...... it-s plastered all over the commercials, radio ads, newspaper ads to take this pill or use this patch to deal with the -withdrawal- symptoms from quitting smoking.... pffffft ....... just tell yourself there won-t be any and there won-t.... promise ....... go get yourself a guided meditation cd and use that daily and just sit and listen and just be and just relax for a bit of bliss each day.

you don-t smoke.

believe it
