How can I get rid of the cigarettte smell in my appartment? -
I have stopped smoking and can still smell the tocacco when I come in. Have tried all sorts of things. Any ideas? That is the problem with cigarette smoke...the smells gets everywhere and then stays.First off, make sure you have all the windows and doors wide open as much as you can. Turn on portable fans and ceiling fans. You will need to literally clean everything. Everything holds that smell: carpet, walls, fabric, books, everything. Wash everything at least once. You may have to scrub things multiple times to get rid of the smell.
Not only will smoking expose everything in your apartment to the smell, it will also cover the apartment with a yellowish film of tar. You will be amazed at how much whiter the walls are, or even how much cleaner the windows are after you wash the tar off of them.
One more important point....make sure to scrub down the ceilings as well. This area is usually overlooked, but remember that smoke floats up. Most of the smoke, the tar, and the smell ends up on the ceiling.
Even after scrubbing everything, the smell will still be there, especially in the heating and cooling systems. But eventually, the smell will go away, even though it may take a while. You may walk in months later and still smell remnants of tobacco. All you can do is ventilate the apartment the best you can and wait. And whatever you do, do not let anyone else smoke inside, or you-ll be back to square one.Cigarette smoke infiltrates EVERYTHING.
Wash the walls with some sort of paint-safe cleanser, shampoo the carpets, get the furniture cleaned, dust EVERYthing, clean windows, wash curtains, blinds, bedding, pillows, ALL clothes, towels, etc. etc.
Pretty much everything in your house needs to be washed to get rid of the smell as quickly and thoroughly as possible.hmm wat about febreeze or something that takes the order away instead of covering it up
nd maybe clean the dust nd stuff off
cuz cigarette smoke piles up nd stuff so yeah nd maybe wash the some of the material too
maybe it will get rid of it
try baking soda maybe
idk hope i helped thoughThe smoke is in your curtains, carpet, bedding, ect.
Try febreeze and use it daily...it will take some time but it-s the best thing I-ve used for smoke.
Also-Scrub your walls down.Wash basically everything...smoke gets everywhere.get one of those hepa filters, they get rid of mildew, mold , dust dander, smoke. you tryed that it works for me very wellTry using scented candles for a week.try adding some charcoal around..they are good absorbers of tar n nicotine..
