and determined to do it. im using 15 mg patches but im still smoking about 3 roll ups a day also. i was on 25+ before so i know its much better. Of course i also know its not ideal and hope to get down to one a day soon then none. Anyone been in this situation? i need to know im not a complete failure

You are not a failure, you have an addiction. I finaly quit after 25 years of smoking and trying to quit probably as many times as the amount of years.

I tried the patches, hypnosis, gums, support groups. Everything I could. I have spend thousands trying to quit , So, how did I finally quit?

3. If you know someone else that smokes, make it a team effort.

the patch worked really well for me, but i had to commit to following the directions - you can-t bump down to the next level just -cause you feel like you can handle it. the purpose of the patch is to break the behavioral pattern first so you can handle the physical cravings better later.

there-s a vitamin B preparation in drops, i think, that really helped kill cravings.

i couldn-t drink alcohol for months - totally blew my judgement and i thought, -well, i can just smoke for tonight.-

it helps to set a quit date a few weeks away to kinda think about how your life will be different.

drink lots of water.

keep gum around. crunch ice.

know a nic fit coming. be able to recognize one a mile away, just by the tingling of your tongue. (yeah, i-ve struggled for a while with this, if you can-t already tell.)

know that if you can make it just five minutes without smoking, the craving will go away.

eat small meals so your blood sugar drops afterwards won-t trigger cravings.

avoid things that you usually do with cigarettes. i had to switch to tea in the mornings for a while because I associated coffee with smoking so much.

be kind to yourself.Just quit. Patches and gums just keep the addictive crap in your system longer. The worst is over in 3 days. I substituted plain chewing gum for cigarettes for a few months so I wouldn-t gain weight. I-ve actually lost 20 lbs.!!Use nicotine gum. it is bit irritating but it worked for me.

I quit cold turkey in December of 1997 and have yet to miss it.I am a ex-smoker and i used this method to quit smoking.I used Laser Concept Therapy to quit smoking.It works like acupuncture but with a soft laser in stead of needles and it is painless.I got mild graving for about 7 weeks after wards but i could easily deal with that and as the weeks went on it got easier and i never got irritable.Their is nothing out there that will make you quit,but their are a lot of methods to make it easier to quit.I have used the nicotine gum and it taste horrible and i have tried the nicotine patch and my skin broke out in a very bad rash i was allergic to the adhesive at the back of the patch like a lot of people are.
