I quit smoking, but....? -

I quit smoking May 1st, 2008, cold turkey. I am doing ok, of course I do have cravings but they subside after several minutes. My problem is that my husband refuses to stop smoking around me. What should I say/do? We do not have children. My inspiration to quit is mostly based on health reasons, I have also started running again after 8 years and am training for the Boulder Boulder. Please help.Wow, first of all--Congrats on quitting, and now training again for such a huge event! :) That-s BiG. I would suggest sitting your husband down, and honestly telling him how it makes YOU feel when he smokes around you. And although there-s a chance he still might not quit, all you can do then is LEAD BY EXAMPLE. He-ll see the amazing changes you-re making health-wise in your life! Give it time. Good luck w/ everything! :)Your husband should be considerate and not smoke around you. You should discuss this with him. Or try smoking the Electronic Cigarette

I had a similar problem. When i quit my friends would still smoke around me. I found that the habit of going out for a 5min cigarette break was the worst addiction to break especially around my friends.

I-ve managed to quit and stay off it for just over 4 months now. I used the Electronic Cigarette. if you haven-t heard of it, its not a tobacco product. It does not carry the harmful chemicals and carcinogens that traditional cigarettes have. You do not light it up so theres no carbon monoxide. You can smoke it anywhere as there-s no risk of passive smoking or unpleasant odours. It produces -smoke- in the form of vapour which replicates the look and feel of smoking. In fact, it does not differ to nicotine replacement patches. The main components is water and nicotine, so it doesnt cause cancer.

I got mine on ebay, you just buy the starter kit and then change the cartridges for $2 each. Have a look, it might help you

CheersWell done! Keep it up. I quit 5 years ago, it was tough going, but well worth it. Your husband sounds like he-s jealous about your challenge to yourself. Deep down, it sounds like he doesn-t want you to succeed. So, I-d take the challenge one step further, and despite how much harder it will be, try, try, try to ignore him and take no notice of him when he smokes around you. When he does smoke around you, just remember the damage he-s doing to his body, whilst you are trying to heal yours. Good luckHe should respect your wishes. He-s being lazy and displaying his authority by smoking in front of you.

Make sure he-s educated as to why you quit, and why you don-t want his second hand smoke in your lungs. If he can-t respect your health, then you can do better.Congratulations! That-s a hard habit to kick. Is there any way you can reason with him to get him to either quit or smoke in one specific room or outside? You should try convincing him, like mega convincing so that he would listen.Tell him the sex would be better. I quit back in September, and it-s WAY better.Kick him in the balls and run far far away.

How can u stop smoking cigarretes? -

don-t buy any and don-t bum any.At the top of the list is: You need to REALLY WANT to stop for no one else but YOURSELF!
Get physical! Exercise or yoga. Stop the things you associate with the evil weed. Whether it be food or social functions. Habits go with way of life. Thus, you need to change habits associated with smoking.
I believe e/one needs to play a game within oneself. My sis smoked for years. She one day decided to quit with no crutches. She put one cig in the kitchen cabinet, just in case she ever wanted one. She-s never touched it.
That would not work for me. I-d smoke it in a heart beat.I smoked for eleven years before I was able to quit.

I used Nicorette gum for about a week then was off of them. The cravings continued for a long time. But, I recognized that the cravings only last a few minutes and if I can outlast them as each one comes, I-ll be okay. That was twelve years ago.
The cravings became weaker and less frequent over time until I no longer had them.
