How can i stop smoke cigs? -
ok i have smoke cigs for 20 years now and i want to stop smoking now i have three kids and i need to stop for them so i can be around for a long time with them i dont want to take the nic patch i know of a lot of poeple who have gotten sick on it so how would i stop help me only if you cani quit in january 2007. i was up to two packs a day...i really enjoyed smoking. however, i was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired! headaches, poor circulation, tiredness, shortness of breath...the list is endless! one day i woke up and decided i was finished! i heard an old wives tale that you shouldn-t throw your last pack of ciggs out..and i still have them!!! i quit cold turkey and i feel great. the key to not going back to smoking is exercise! walk, cycle, jog...after a month you won-t want to smoke at all! the first month was rough...but once you see how much better your skin looks and how much more energy you have, you won-t want to smoke. now my kids have a hard time keeping up with me. if i can do, so can you! good luck!!! btw...don-t worry about weight gain...i think that-s hype that-s overblown.check out this link...scroll down to about the middle where you can read about the benefits...

CHANTIX - Both my boyfriend and I took Chantix about 6 months ago. I took it for the first month and quit and my boyfriend needed to go on it a bit longer. IT WORKED WONDERFULLY! I still get a craving every now and then - mostly when drinking but I get threw it! I experiences an upset stomach when I didn-t take the med with food and some crazy crazy dreams! but other then that I highly recommend it! I know several people who have started taking it and are not smoking and they were HEAVY smokers!nicotine gum, stop buying them, throw them all out. you really just need to commit to quit. read up on all the dangers to really engrain into your head how smoking negatively affects you every time you smoke a cigarette. maybe try smoking one pack instead of two, or just under half of what you-ve been smoking for the past 20 years. will powerI know someone who started sucking on straws instead of cigs, and she ended up breaking free,so you can try that,it keeps something in your mouth and you can suck it and get air it simulates the cig sucking,,Good=Luck.Just throw them away. Find a different activity when you want to smoke. I also recommend not telling anyone because if you tell your friends, they constantly start asking -how are you doing- which just reminds you that you are -missing- something. Change your routines. If you smoke in your house or car, make a new rule - no smoking. If you smoke during certain activities, change those. And if at first you don-t succeed, try, try again.
I gave it up cold turkey, didn-t tell anyone for 1 week. That was 18 years ago.I used Nicoderm CQ. Great stuff. Haven-t smoked now for almost 15 years.prescription chantix!I-ve never been a smoker, so I can only tell you what I-ve read in magazines and online. Women-s Health said to go for a 10 minute walk everytime you feel the urge to smoke. This probably works best in combination with the gum or patch.
I just think you need to try anything (even the patch) to quit smoking. Just do it for your children. My grandfather was a smoker (started in WWII) and cigarettes are the reason I grew up without him in my life. He died when I was 4. Just keep trying, no matter how hard it is and if you fail with one method, try another.
Honestly, if I were you, I-d gradually quit. If you smoke 5 a day, start by cutting down to 4 one week, 3 the next week, etc. A few people I know have been succesful that way. Plus, just imagine how much money you-ll save! This may not help you but it did my dad when he quit he didn-t tell anyone he was doing it he quit cold turkey you just have to have will power and really want to do they say food taste better when you quit i haven-t quit yet but iam down to about 4 a day and my hubby hasn-t even noticed yet best of luck to you and me iam going to give them up for goodConvert to cigars that way you got something to smoke to feed ur habit and eventually you should feel no need because i dont belive cigars are addictiveMy advice to you is to quit cold turkey. As hard as it might seem I believe you have the will power to make a healthier choice for yourself and your family. To get the ball rolling go throw out all the cigarettes you have and when you feel the urge to smoke hold a picture up of your kids and say a prayer. My blessings to you and your family!I Just made up My Mind I was Thru Smoking, and would take One Day at a time, One Hour at a time.....
Hint: When I Had the Urge I would stick a Plastic toothpick In my mouth. I Found that most of the Habit was A Hand to mouth thing. (Holding something)
It worked anyway. Haven-t smoked now in I0 Years.
Here-s Pulling and Praying for You! (smile) (Oh, the first 30 days are Important. After that, Piece of cake.) And I smoked for 35 yrs...........You can Do It!!!I did really well with Commit nicotine lozenges (haven-t had a cig since Dec.). CVS and Wallgreens make their own store brand too. I didn-t like the patch and didn-t like the gum.
The lozenge is great because you do get a little nicotine rush when you take one, and it gives you something to grab and pop into your mouth at those trigger moments. I find it works best if I tuck it against a cheek and move it around once in awhile. Don-t just suck on it like candy or it could upset your stomach. The idea is to let the tissues of your mouth absorb the nicotine.
Good luck!
