HI my dad is a smoker and he promised to stop but he never did. How do i help him stop smoking all together because hes been doin it 4 years and im gettin worried.SOME ONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…Chantix. It-s the only thing that ever worked for me. Then I started back - long story. Now I-m back on Chantix trying again.There is only so much encouragement you can give him. He-s addicted to the nicotine. It is very hard for people to break an addiction. Suggest using nicotine gum, patches. Explain to him that you-re very worried about his health. Show him some stories online about people suffering after smoking for many many years. I know this is difficult, but keep trying to help him stop.It-s real to believe you may be one of the most influential people in his life!
But, it-s also real that nicotine addiction is really hard to break.
If his work has a smoking cessation plan, he might get involved in that. Or his health insurance rates may go down if he stops...sometimes kids and money are motivators, especially if he kinda wants to quit, but just needs a good reason.
Is there anything you would be willing to do along with him, while he doesn-t smoke, you both could go for a walk around the block, or play a game of checkers, or something that occupies the hands, and gives him what he might normally get from the cigarettes.

Breaking the habit of smoking is one of the hardest things to do:it is more addictive then drugs.
He might try the patches the gum and what have you.
But it is dead easy to fall back in the habit again:know this from own experience.
Try to reason with him.Smoke less each day for instance.Avoid stress.
Go do things together.Anything to keep him from smoking.
So far:i failed all my attempts.
And I do hate it that it controls my life.
Wish I never started at 16.

Spacesit down, talk with him, if he-s willing, go to all the local places and ask if they-d just not sell it to him, and try the patches and stuff. maybe even like make him pay you a dollar for every cig he smokes after that. good luck with ur pops.you have to talk to him!
