I want to stop smoking but im addicted to pot??? -
i need to stop smoking weed and want my life back, i just turned 18 years old and grades at school is bad and i need help from sombody that smoked weed and had quite???p.s plzz explain reasons why u quite??I stopped because I was addicted to it. I was smoking weed all day long and spending LOTS of money on it. I wasn-t the same person and didn-t pay attention to the people I loved. My emotions were way out of whack...I was very depressed a lot. I couldn-t remember things...like something that was just said a couple minutes ago. I was stupid and acted ridiculous a lot of the time. It caused so many different problems in all aspects of my life. I quit going to college because it was cutting into my drug time. It interferes with getting and keeping a job. I was lazy and my house was always a mess. It is illegal and you have to worry about the police. The people I hung out with were all drug users and criminals. A lot of my belongings ended up being stolen or I pawned them off if I couldn-t afford a bag. If weed is causing problems then I would suggest quitting. I went to drug rehab and went to NA meetings. I haven-t smoked for three years now. I don-t hang out with anyone who does drugs...and just don-t do it. By the way pot is an addictive drug physiologically as well (I learned that in college...newer research) It effects your sleeping, eating and pleasure centers in your brain. I-ve known lots of people addicted to drugs and weed is a problem and it is very hard to quit just like any other drug. There are people who can do a drug (including alcohol) every once in a while and it doesn-t have lots of negative consequences. But, there are others who do it enough for it to effect their life in a bad way...and others yet who are extremely addicted. It sounds like weed is effecting your life in a negative way, so I would suggest quitting. It takes discipline and it takes you wanting to not do it anymore. It also helps if you have other people to help you out and be supportive of your choice. Also, it helps to talk to others who have similar problems. You just need to stop and look at what it-s done to your life and realize how it-s affected things - and you can stop. Replace it with a bottle of water, chewing gum or something. I quit because I just didn-t feel like doing it anymore - I just stopped, it wasn-t a big deal at all.
You need to tell yourself that you can do it. If you think you need help, there are free addiction counseling programs at alot of places - probably right within your community - check churches, and the local paper for support groups.
You can do it - you-re way too young to have pot be affecting your life in such a negative way!hello.
i havent smoked pot, weed, whatever you want to call it, before, but I think some reasons you and others should quit is that for one, its not only hurting you, but it can hurt your family. They care about you and wouldn-t want you doing anything that will kill you. You-ve got only one life, one body, and once it-s gone, it-s gone for good. Also, you run the risk of being caught and thrown in jail. Weed is illegal. Jail may not seem all that bad but I have a family member who-s been in jail, and also had a friend who was thrown in jail. It-s no party, I can tell you that. I suggest rehab. If not that, then i suggest that you find something to substitute doing weed. Find a hobby you enjoy. You should just throw out the weed, and don-t put yourself in a situation where weed is going to come into the picture. Then you have less of a chance of getting addicted again. Just know that you have people who are there for you, and go to those people when you need to. They will help you. I promise.
Hope this helps.You-re not addicted to pot. Not physically anyways. Its a psychological addiction. Your brain is telling you that you want it, and after some time, it feels like you need it. Sure, it might be fun, and maybe a lot of your friends do it too (which can make it harder to stop). But, if you really care about school, and there for the rest of your life, then you-ll put you before weed.
Weigh out the pros and cons of smoking. For example, smoking = fun for a few hours, and, well not much.
Not smoking = better grades, money saved, better eating habits (no more munchies), and a less chance of legal problems.
Just think about it....I hope you make the right decision. As a rule I have no problem with anyone that smokes weed. I don-t see it any worse than drinking alcohol. That being said, it can be very seriously addicting. Just like alcohol. The ones that are saying to keep on smoking are clueless.
Rehab may be the way to go, but this is the time to see if you have the discipline and maturity to do it your self. Don-t try and do it cold turkey. If you do, you may as well check into a rehab facility. Start cutting back. Smoke one less blunt or joint or .bowl, what ever your gig is. You have to make an effort. After a week cut it back again. If you aren-t ready, wait another week. Just work on it and it can be done.
Hope this helps and best wishes on your recovery.
Edit: An addiction is an addiction, if it is Psychological or physiologicalJust harness your will power. After a couple days it gets a lot easier. Trust me, it is nothing compared to cigarette addiction, its like a walk in the park compared to that. The reason I quit is because every time i would get high, I would start to feel like my life was falling apart and that I was a loser. Anyone can do drugs my friend, its nothing special. Just don-t do it, you wont be missing out on anything. I smoked for years too. Instead of being high you could be bettering yourself by learning a new skill or something, you could do so much that you can-t do when you-re high. The mental addiction to drugs is really what keeps us addicted . Thats why its extremely important to seek drug and alcohol conseling . Weather it be group therapy or personal therapy. If you don-t have insurance there are non-profit organizations that can assist you in obtaining help (this is by State). Also as much as this sucks you cannot hang out with people who use! You will start again if your around it I guarantee. I quit after smoking for 5 years and I-ve haven-t done it for over ten.
I did it by:
Getting a new circle of friends who didn-t use drugs and completely ignoring my old friends (this sucked but I realized a few years later that I did the right thing-we all fed off each others addiction)
Seeking personal counseling (this is what worked best for me some people prefer group counseling)
Creating new hobbies and goals in my life that gave me something to concentrate on besides getting high.
Good luck and congrats your on the right track by seeking help!I used to be a major pot head. i quit because my lungs were starting to hurt and I felt like I could never get a good deep breath. I didnt like the idea of ruining my lungs or getting cancer. I also didnt like the fact that I could not pass a drug test. I always had to use eye drops which I didnt like either. I would get paranoid sometimes when I was high and always felt like I had to hide my high from everyone around me. I felt ashamed of myself that I was a -druggie.- This sounds corny but one day I decided to vow to God that I would never smoke pot again. I am still clean and sober ever since that day. It is still hard though because I have friends who still do it. You realy have to form a hatered for it, only then I believe you will never go back to it. Good luck!Just do it, that-s all it takes. Choose not to! That-s as easy as it gets, someone has to be in charge and control of your life, why not let it be you.i saw other people doing it and watch there lives go down the toilet after high school.
no one would hire them because they could not pass the drug test.
you need to be clean for 1 month for it to clear your systempot isn-t an addictive drug.
psychologically you may think you need it, but physiologically there-s no dependence.try picking up a new habit..a good one..or get a hobby like some sport or skateboarding or whatever interests you. something to keep your mind off weed and on something else. You may need to go to an inpatient treatment facility if it-s that bad. I never started though, so that-s how I stopped.its way easier than you think, just tryI quit because I lost most my contacts...lol...there-s one person but yeah...I figured I-ve gone without it for so long, why start again?pot is not a bad drug and not hard to get off of, and if you have bad grades, maybe it-s more than the pot.weeds good, dont stop
