I-m starting a course of Zyban tommorrow and wondered if anyone on here has been on it?Did you have any side effects? How long was it before the urge to smoke decressed?Zyban made me crazy, I had mood swings, panic attacks, could not sleep, wicked dreams, got depressed, cried, and had to stop taking it before I quit smoking....although I was slowly cutting back, this all happened within the first 2-3 weeks of taking it and I was down to about 2 cigarettes per day......but I quit taking, I would rather smoke that go through that again.......Sorry to tell you that.....However, I did have couple of friends who stopped and I also had another friend who used Chantix to stop smoking so you may do well on the Zyban and if for some reason you do not; try the Chantix......
GOOD LUCK to you......be careful the mix of no nicotine and zyban made my placid friend go crazy he put 2 people in hospital because they were playing the music too loud. luckily they did not press charges. be careful use patches too at first.It is said, in some fairly unlikely studies with one to one psychological backup, 9which no one will have0 to have a 50% success rate. It has more potential side effects than NRT.
Currently combined patch and gum NRT is being given a 50% success rate.i was on it for a week , i ended up in intensive care for a month as a result of themI tried it when it first became available, but I got palpatations and had to stop. My doctor will not prescribe it to anyone now.I-m on Champix at the moment (and its brilliant). It was specifically designed for smoking and has no contra- indications, unlike Zyban which was based on an anti- depressant so will have some similar side effects (I think disrupted sleep is one of them).
I know some people who have used Zyban successfully and reckon it takes about 2 or 3 days before you start to lose the urge.My father was on it shortly to quit smoking and he had adverse reactions to it. Twitching eyes, hyperactivity, and a feeling of doom. Chantix works better within 1 1/2 months you will quit.
