It is common to experience more coughing when you first quit smoking as your body tries to rid your lungs of the toxins from the smoke.Yes ... and it can get worse before it gets better. Your lungs are cleaning house. You-ve got a lot of garbage in there and the natural response for you body is to try and cough out the residue.

I worked with a guy who was a 2 pack a day smoker. When he quit, he use to do what we all called a -death cough- because it often sounded like he was about to hock up a lung. It lasted for weeks, but eventually dissipated and stopped. It was awful, but now he-s fine!Yup. Doesn-t happen to everyone, but does happen often enough to be considered a quit smoking symptom.

Great online site for support (and it-s free) www.quitnet.com.Yes because your lungs and respiratory system are working properly again. They are clearing out all the mucus and impurities that are in there. You-ll have a lot of coughing, throat clearing and phlegm--it eventually goes away. Also a lot of nasal drainage is common. I quit 1 year ago (my anniversary was December 31st) and I feel so much better.
