Can your brain recover from heavy marijuana consumption? -

I have been smoking weed for about 4 years now. Mentally I feel much slower and find it difficult to study and finish assignments at school.

If I stop smoking marijuana, will my brain be able to recover to the capacity it used to have?

My friend said that ritalin helps your brain recover? Is this true?Yes your brain can recover. There is no negative effect of even chronic, long-term marijuana use on the brain. Study after study after study has confirmed this. So, yes, your brain can recover from no effects.Marijuana simply DOES NOT damage the brain. That-s a myth discredited by science. My guess, however, is that you are a complete burnout and constant use of weed is making you more drowsy. Therefore, making it harder to focus. My advice to you: stop smoking if you feel the need to but you really don-t have to. If you still wish to smoke (which is fine) do it solely in a social context or make sure your work is well done before you light up. Wake up and smell the coffee, your bad work habits and lack of priorities are to blame here, not the pot.Your friend is WRONG. Ritalin is just another drug and it makes things worse in the long run. As far as marijuana goes, I don-t find it to be harmful to me, but everyone is different. I know some people who are not affected by it and I also know some who are slightly affected. Either way, stay away from the different chemicals for now and try a lead a healthy life. As in, eating healthy and exercising... Stuff like that can ACTUALLY increase your mental capacity because you will feel better.

:)Marijuana does not kill braincells. it actually stimulates brain cell growth. watch The Union: The buisness behind getting high. Be enlightened my friendddddthe only way to find out is to stop smoking and see for yourself--your brain will recover if you stop. You need a prescription for ritalin, and you-d still have to stop smoking for that to work.you are so fortunate that you are young and still at an age when you have a) dealt with this and b) able to grow brain cells
It was thought that brain cells lost were gone for ever. However it-s now known that do in fact regenerate.
Do not overwrite the drugs in your system with more drugs. You actually become a super hyper allergic person.
Plenty of pure water. Very little coffee drug, tea, cola other caffeine drinks like sports drinks etc in cans. They all remove water from the cells of the body and are called diuretics. Take Mega b vitamins to improve the day to day well being and memory function 1000mg tabs once daily and for the 2nd week only take them 2 times daily.
You are on the right road to recovery. Well done.Keep it up.It will repair over time. When you smoke it THC binds to your braincells making it harder for them to communicate with each other. It doesn-t actually kill any braincells. All the damage done to your brain is only temporary, there are no long term effects.

Doing ritalin if you don-t have ADD is basically doing speed. I would not recommend doing that if you are looking to become more mentally healthy. Just stop smoking and your head will clear up over time.Well as far as brain cells regenerating, they probably will. But something called -permaburn-, a condition of slight brain damage due to drug use, can even affect marijuana smokers. If you quit now you have a chance of recovering, and a pretty good one. As for the ritalin, that-s making it worse. Pot is a psychoactive, but also a depressant, like Ritalin. Might even make it worse. The good news is that you-ll recover some of your ability and won-t be doing further damage. The bad news is that you may not recover all of it, studies find permament brain damage in people who have smoked daily for as little as a year and I-ve heard lots of former smokers complain that they didn-t get all of their memory and mental clarity back.

Not sure about Ritalin, I-m guessing that it merely takes the damaged brain and makes it operate at higher gear, rather than repairing the damage. So you-ll be smarter than you would be if you didn-t use the Ritalin, but not as smart as you would have been if you hadn-t smoked pot.

Wish all the kids who say -what-s wrong with marijuana- could read this post or others like it. I didn-t think it was bad for you when I was smoking it as a kid and the more I see/read the more I realize how naive I was.

EDIT -- The druggies can thumb me down all they want, it isn-t going to change the results of the studies which indicate that marijuana causes permanent brain damage.I was a C student in high school and in college when I started smoking weed I was on the Dean-s list. I don-t believe weed has anything to do with how well you perform in school. It-s more a matter of how interesting the subject is to you.

Never take medical advice from friends who aren-t doctors.
