Can i lose weight without having to quit smoking? ? -

hi I-m twenty and I-m out of shape i wanna go to the gym and get back in shape but my friends tell me i need to stop smoking first. I-m not going to lie I-m addicted and i really don-t want to Or have the time to go through the stress and pain of quitting. I know its going to hold me back but don-t if i exercise allot it would counter act the smoking damage ? and will it be that hard i mean i can still run a block or two and be ALMOST o.k. I just want to know if it-s impossible or not?oh man I-m in the same boat as you dude.
I just cut back on smoking a bit, and started running 3 times a day, today hopefully you can get used to it, and all, just maybe work extra hard i guess, thats what I-m doing, cuz i-m certainly not up for quitting cigs.Yes, you probably can. In fact when most people quite smoking they will gain weight. However what your friends are referring to is the fact that you are not going to be able to work out as hard or as long as non-smokers because you won-t have the lung capacity. Also, smoking restricts blood flow. So it will take you longer to work out to get the same results. Right now it might take time to quit but it will save you time because you are going to spend a lot of extra time in the long run working out and you will only see mediocre results. Also over time your lung capacity instead of growing like a healthy non-smoking persons will just keep shrinking and you will eventually have to quite working out. But definitely start working out now cause it can-t hurt.
