This is a question on an final exam, in essay form. I have an answer, but I-d like to flesh it out a bit.My answer so far:
The church, synagogue or other place of worship is a strong social community, with members concerned for each person’s whole well-being. People are more likely to change their lifestyle with the support and care from others. Additionally, expectations of those the person cares about strengthen the desire to do what is best for the body, spirit and mind.
This can deal with things like blood pressure checks, diabetes counselling, groups to stop smoking, etc.Thats a good start, but if you go to different churches and look around, many are over weight. Due mostly to potluck dinners, where every body brings a dish of sorts.I-d say yes to support groups but lacking in good eating habits. And don-t forget the candy bribs to the children every sunday
