only way to no is to stop smoking weed for 2 weeks huhIt may be very likely that your sore throat is due to your recent marijuana usage. Smoking any substance can irritate your throat as well as lungs. A sore throat may only be the beginnings of the side effects you will experience if you continue to smoke marijuana.
Even though there are no reported cases of fatal marijuana overdoses, because there is a high level of tar and other chemicals in marijuana, smoking it is even more toxic than smoking cigarettes. The lungs get a big dose of chemicals that increase the chances of lung problems and cancer later in life. Also, it is proven that 1 in 4 people that have smoked marijuana (whether as a once off or frequently) develop some sort of psychosis, so I don-t know why you-d be smoking it any way. Forms of psychosis include Schizophrenia, Psychotic depression and Bipolar affective disorder. None of these are particularly nice things to have, and just imagine: for every 100 people that smoke weed, 25 will get one of them. That-s a lot, and the others that don-t will have one or more of these negatively affected: pituitary gland, thyroid gland, stomach, duodenum, pancreas, adrenal glands and testis. So marijuana not only drastically changes brain function and mental instability, but also growth and development, energy levels, and reproduction.
Specifically to do with the respiratory system, the effects marijuana are having on you are one or more of the following:
o Throat
+ Irritates membranes of the esophagus; increases chance of developing cancer of larynx and esophagus.
o The harmful effects of marijuana on the Lungs
+ Significant damage and destruction of the air sacs of the lungs, reducing the lungs ability to bring oxygen and remove carbon dioxide - Emphysema.
+ Causes bronchial tubes to be inflamed, thickened and to produce more mucus; resulting in narrowing of the air passages - Chronic Bronchitis.
+ Marijuana smoke has twice as much -tar- as cigarette smoke and significantly increases chance of lung cancer, inflammation and infection.
Whatever positive feeling weed may create for you, the risks far outweigh the benefits. There is help available if you are addicted, and more general information can be found here:
