Here are a few natural ways to help curb your need for a cig:

Slippery Elm Bark: I think this is a great SUPER-herb. Great for so many things. Have a cup of Slippery Elm Bark tea when you feel like you want to have a smoke. OR

Place two table spoons of powdered slippery elm bark into a bowl pour in a small amount of honey and sirt it around until you have a nice dough, you can roll them in a bit more of the SEB powder or cinnamon or even powdered sugar for some flavor. Suck on one everytime you feel you need a ciggarette. You can find SEB tea or powder in any health food store.

Marjoram tea will dry out your throat making it so you won-t enjoy those ciggarettes so you could drink a cup of it before you have a smoke. Marjoram is really sweet so you don-t need to add a sweetener. There is only one best way to avoid smoking. Control on yourself.

When you tried your best to avoid it you can stop smoking otherwise its not possible. Pills or other things are just a reason to satisfy your self to remember that your are trying to stop this bad habit.

If you take pills or try to avoid smoking in any condition surely you will stop it.Did you try the pills that doctors prescribe? They say that that works the best. My step father had to quit smoking b/c of his illness and so they prescribed him pills to help him stop. My husband..still smokes but when he goes to quit he will be trying those pills. The problem with the patches and gum and all is that they contain the nicotine. Nicotine is what your body craves. So no they would not be good. When you go to quit officially and try again make sure that for a week or two you do not surround yourself around other smokers so that you can try to get yourself over the hump. The best way is cold turkey. It-s because of the way nicotine works in your body. You need to get all the nicotine out of your brain, so that it can start rewiring itself. It takes about 3 days to get all the nicotine out of your system. So if you try to gradually work your way down, your body will never have a chance to rewire its synapses and basically retrain your thoughts.

I know it-s hard, but it will get easier and easier as the hours and days pass. Another thing that helps is having support from other people, and something to motivate you. Try to think of something really important to you, like saving the money, or your health. Good luck. :)The way I quit smoking was cold turkey and will power. I tried cutting back, gum nothing worked. Finally I said f this. I-m tired of smoking, and stopped. It-s really hard. You will need something to occupy yourself. Gum, hard candy, stress balls, little hand toys. That-s what has worked for me. (2 months smoke free!!!)Get a hold of some really good pictures of what your lunges look like after smoking for awhile. I smoked for twenty years(3 packs a day) You have to want to quit( I mean REALLY want ti QUIT) !
Get yourself in that mind-set, and throw away all your smoking toys.
Lighters, ashtrays, pack holders--Everything!
Then just tell yourself that your not going to let a chemical rule your life.
Good luck!First - be sure you really want to quit
Second - get a friend that you can lean on
Third - Know that you can and will succeed
Fourth - take it one butt at a time.
Fifth - Stay away from places, people, and things that remind you of smoking.
Sixth - find something to do with your hands.Well this is how I stopped. You see I smoked menthols so whenever I wanted to smoke I would suck on a Halls cough drop. The more yucky tasting the better, I hated the cherry ones. If you smoke non-menthols go and see your doctor he might have a good idea of what to do.A good product to stop smoking is on this website : http://www.stopsmoking4good.org or you can email ContactOwner@stopsmoking4good.orgCold turkey and a little somethign called willpower :PI quit using hypnosis....

Relations between smoking and heartbeat? -

I-ve been smoking for almost 4 years now, around 14-20 buds/day..
2 days ago i stopped smoking but just awhile ago, i took a bud, and i-m really sure it-s the cigarette that caused my heartbeat to race up all of the sudden. i started breaking a sweat, and the heartbeat started goes faster than normal. the question is, what-s in the cigarette that caused this? the reason i asked is that last time, i used to smoke when i-m nervous or feeling blue, and it helps calming me down. now it started to giving the opposite effects? There are many reasons for this. Co2 in the smoke will cause your heart to beat faster to try and clear it out of your system. That-s just one component, that can mess up your body. Too many bad things in cigarettes can cause this.it is the nicotine in the cig that makes your heart beat faster. and kinda give you a buzz if you haven-t done some for a while

hope this helpsSmoking is the number one killer today and, related symptoms to other diseases like asthma and emphysema. I stopped smoking eight years ago after four major heart attacks and one bypass for a six bypass operation. I also have asthma and emphysema. I am 70 years old and don-t know if I-ll see 75 years old. The doc told me I may see 75 if my heart doesn-t go again.
The nicotine in the cigarettes are the cause of the buzz but in a bad way. Yes, it was thought to give you a calmness but then sneaks up on you from another direction and kills you. I have seen lungs from very heavy smokers during an autopsy, they are wilted, spotted with black tar and carbon, you wouldn-t recognize it as a lung, the same happens with your heart. Both organs become yellow and gray colored and weak.
