My doctor recently put me on wellbutrin xl to stop smoking.? -
I forgot how many weeks he said to take the 150 mg. before starting on the 300mg. Anyone know so i don-t have to bother him.......again.I am familiar with the drug as well as many ways it is used....have also taken the drug...However, nobody but your doctor or Pharmacist who filled the original Rx should advise you on how you should take the medication...CALL your doctor...it won-t be a bother, you will more than likely get instructions from the nurse who will confirm what either he himself states OR what is written on your chart...Call...safer to do that anyway! Take care~My doctor recently put me on wellbutrin xl to stop smoking.? -

3 days into stopping smoking and Im going mad...help please? -
Well I-m into day 3 with 25mg patches and a nicorette pipe. I was fine the first 2 days but now I-m feeling irritatable...
Any advice from ex-smokers? Is there anything I can do to get over the cravings and mood swings?chances are u are in ur house going mad, good advice stay away from home because ull be in a pattern when ur in ur house to smoke, if u go out and do sumthing intrestin to keep ur mind off it ull do well, if its really bad chew sum gum, or eat but not too much ppl tend to gain lots of weight when they stop smoking....
just think of it in ur head u only need to get throo this day, forget about 2moro, then wake up and do it again, its all in ur head...
best of luck...Like others said, find something to keep yourself busy. Intense exercise will help some with that and the mood swings.
Carry a pack of gum such as Dentyne in case you find yourself absolutely needing to put something in your mouth.
And clean your house: Believe it or not, I-ve found that helps to calm me when I-m upset or nervous. There-s something about organizing your -outer space- that helps with straightening your -inner space- too: It gives you a feeling that you are actually in control. Not to mention it will get rid of the smell of the smoke.
Good luck!ok, the patches do not work for starters, trust me on this, the best thing for you to do is possibly find something to keep your mind occupied such as a sport (tennis, golf etc) not only would this give you the vital fresh air in your lungs but it would allow the (sorry for this term) gunk in your lungs to clear abit. If you ever get the cravings again just think of the long term damage and what kind of future you would face if you carried on smoking. You have surly seen the -smoking kills- videos right? well they dont really give the impact that they should, what helped me is watching this video on youtube about this mothers journey through lung (and various other) cancer I-ll give the link in the sources part. good luck!Stop the patches, stop the pipe.
It IS all in the mind, IF you want to stop, then stop. I got to the point where I was fed up with smoking so I just stopped. It took about a week to get over it. That was 10 years ago. It does help if you say to yourself -Thats another ciggy* I haven`t had- rather than -I fancy a smoke-Dint go messing about with silly fads like gum.
Tell your self why have you stopped - there must me a reason. Then get a back bone and a bit of self respect and stop.
If you havent got a reason then why have you stopped.
remind your self why you stopped. money?- keep a savings jar, children- look at the ir photo instead of sparking up a nice crisp sweet nicotine stick.
Come on, only you can stop.I would tell you, fight the good fight. How would you like to know what fresh clean air really smells like. How you you like to know what a cup of tea taste like. how would you like to run up stairs without puffing, how would you like to have money in the bank. I didn-t look to see if you were male or female, but how would you like your lover to smell you a lovely clean person or an ash tray. Did you know that a Gin and tonic is quite a tasteful drink.
If you want a reason to get over it, its easy, count you new blessings, they can be wonderful. Now why do you want to stop smoking? You will be ostracised by all decent people, You will only be invited to parties full of bores and you will get fat and your breath will smell worse than a smokers. When I stopped I became depressed and lonely so I started again and now my health and moods are all back to normal Also I have all of my old friends back.I-ve been quit for 3 years and still get the craving when I smell smoke...
but it does get better I swear!
Get some suckers for the oral addiction, think twice before every emotional decision and take a deep breath, talk to someone if you can.
You just have to tough it out, your body is withdrawling and finding new ways to deal with stress...
Just remember all the benifits you will get from quiting...
I can breath so much better and you will too!
CheersI found the best way was just stop, whilst you-re still going through the motions with the pipe you-ll still want it.when the urge comes over you just find housework to do anything but tell yourself a mental NO! eventually the cravings will get less and disappear.fine something to occup yourself with or buy an electronic cigarette or the nicrette inhalerSt Johns Wort, 300mg 3 times a day will help level out your moods and its natural. Hang toughI quit over a year ago and it can be rough. I tried to keep busy so that I would not think about smoking.3 days into stopping smoking and Im going mad...help please? -

has any one tryed the new stop smoking drug called Champix
What is it like? i hear its suppose to be very good?Champix is excellent. Very few reported side effects, especially compared with other stop smoking medications. It is also highly effective at reducing the amount of cigarettes smoked and eventually allowing the smoker to stop. It is a fairly long process though with a period of reducing smoking then stopping altogether. If you-re motivated it-s a very good option.
And ignore the guy below - it is champixWell first of all its called Chantix. Lol. And well I think it does work very well. I was on it for only 2 months and it worked. At first you can continue to smoke while on it and eventually the feeling for a cigarette goes away. I have been smoke free since August 2008. It does have some side effects but the only one I got was crazy dreams. Other than that I would recommend it but I am not a doctor and you should consult with them.Lets clear up the confusion first. It IS called Chantix in the USA. In the UK we call it Champix.
It has very high success rates, Champix basically mimics the effect nicotine has on the body. It reduces the craving and helps withdrawal. Its success rate is below 5% after 90 days, just as all other cessation products. So,- its success rate is high- is B.S. It is also a psyco drug and it-s killing people. You people need to do some research on this crap.Yes last year, it made me violently sick for a couple of hours after I took it so I came off it, but it worked for a friend of mine. I-ve just been smoke free for a month with Nicorette patches.Stop Smoking medication? -

Wellbutrin does help with taking the edge off the cravings...Good luck! Some who take it say it does. Wellbutrin or anything else depends on your real desire to quit. It is the hardest thing to do and if Wellbutrin works for you, then go for it. I am allergic to it, but most people usually aren-t. My tongue swelled up.The prescription pamphlet states it as one of it-s uses....i took it for the depression thing and i should have quit then because i really cared less about a smoke most of the time. i think it-s a good chance it could work welles wellburtrin works I was taking zabanbut my insurance didn-t cover it, so my doctor suggusted I try wellburtrin, I take 1 in the morning - 1 at night must be about 12 hrs. apart It reaiiy helps me but it will take a few wks. to kick in. don-t give up, I still think about cigerates, bot I don-t have any carvings for them at all.But have to really want to quit. I-ve been on wellburtrin for a few yrs. - I do light the odd cig. - it tastes awful so I put it out. I go for weeks without even thinking about smoking. You-ll save a lot of money, I fine a big differents in my wallet - you will to with all the smoking bans it-s really good not to want a smoke. Please try it it-ll work if you want it to. Good Luck.Yes when I first started it it made me shaky and very nervous but after about a week it eased off. But you still have to be ready to stop no matter what method you choose. If it doesn-t work keep trying its well worth it.Does wellburtrin really help to stop smoking? -

Quitting smoking is extremely difficult. The withdrawl makes us not want to, but we know the risks and we know that they are not worth it. For anyone who wants to end their nicotine addiction, check out www.stopsmokingcleveland.com. This is the MOST effective method on the market. It is 86% effective and the details of the program are on the website (no signing up or submitting your information).
I tried this program and it changed my life.well this is hard a popular choice is the patch. But on the 1st day of quitting I suggest have lots of gum and candy on hand to keep your mouth busy so your chewing on something. If your friends smoke ask them for your own sake not to smoke infront of you or you-ll be tempted.Throw away the smokes and try to forget about it.Go on the net and read the effects of smoke one smoke a day takes 10 mins off your life. Not to mention will ruin your skin sorry if I sound preachy I been tempted to smoke and I quite young underaged. So drink lots of water if you have a craving and chew gum and candy to keep you busy.Best of luck to you-3!This method works for me and is the only money back guaranteed.
I quit smoking 2 years ago
Get the Facts
Easyway, founded by Allen Carr in 1983, has the highest independently verified 12-month success rate (75.8% for a smoker completing the program) of any quit smoking technique and a 90% satisfaction rating.
Compare Easyway to other methods and see for yourself why Easyway is called “The Cadillac of quit smoking methods.”
The Allen Carr Method
HOW THE METHOD WORKS
Using psychotherapy, the method works in the opposite way to the “willpower” method. It does not concentrate on the reasons the smoker should not smoke : the money, the slavery, the health risks and the stigma. Smokers know all that already. Instead it focuses on why smokers continue to smoke in spite of the obvious disadvantages.
It is fear that keeps smokers hooked!
Fear the smoker will have to give up their pleasure or crutch. Fear the smoker will be unable to enjoy life or handle stress. Fear the smoker will have to go through an awful trauma to get free. Fear the smoker will never get completely free from the craving.
The Method removes these fears
Smokers quit with the Allen Carr Method as happy non-smokers, not feeling deprived but with a huge sense of relief and elation that they have finally achieved what they always wanted….
TO BE FREE!
What about the terrible withdrawal pangs from nicotine?
The physical withdrawal from nicotine is so slight that most smokers don’t realise that they are addicts. What smokers suffer when they try and quit using other methods is the misery and depression caused by the belief that they are being deprived of a pleasure or a crutch.
The Allen Carr Method removes this feeling of deprivation.
It removes the need and desire to smoke. Once the smoker is in the right frame of mind and they follow the simple instructions, the physical withdrawal from nicotine is hardly noticeable.
No Gimmicks!
The Method does not use any gimmicks, useless aids or substitutes. No nicotine gum, patches, lozenges, tabs, inhilators or nasal sprays! No needles! No lasers! No drugs! No herbs! No shock treatment!
The Allen Carr Method is successful because:
It removes the smokers’ conflict of will.
There are no bad withdrawal pangs.
It is instantaneous and easy.
It is equally effective for long-term heavy smokers and light smokers.
You need not gain weight.
You will not miss smoking.
Medical Endorsements
A personal view from Professor Judith Mackay MBE, JP, FRCO (Edin), FRCP (Lon), World Health Organisation Advisory Panel on Tobacco and Health
“I have no hesitation in supporting Allen Carr’s work. Many clinics use some of his techniques but it would appear that few do it in quite such a successful package.”
Carole Johnson, Coronary Heart Disease Prevention Unit, Tyne Tees
“his success rate was such that, when budgets allow, we continue to use Easyway for work with specific groups and individuals.”
Dr Anil Visa BSc, MBBch., FRCA, Consultant – Royal Hospitals NHS Trust – Royal London Hospital
“I have observed the Allen Carr method at first hand and have found it to be very successful and I wholeheartedly support it as an effective way to quit smoking.”
Dr William Green, Head of Psychiatric Dept, Matilda Hospital, Hong Kong
“It is a remarkable fact that Allen Carr, on his own admission a non-professional in behaviour modification, should have succeeded where countless psychologists and psychiatrists holding postgraduate qualifications have failed, in formulating a simple and effective way to stop smoking.”
Dr Martin Jarvis, Principle Scientist, Imperial Cancer Research
Fund and Reader in Health Psychology, University College London
”...I am more than happy to testify to Allen Carr’s enduring involvement and to recognise the value of the kind of behavioural and cognitive support he provides.”
Dr PM Bray MB CH.b., MRCGP
“I was really impressed by the method. In spite of the Allen Carr organisation’s success and fame, there were no gimmicks and the professional approach was something a GP could readily respect. I would be happy to give a medical endorsement of the method to anyone.”
Celebrity Endorsements
-His method is absolutely unique, removing the dependence on cigarettes, while you are actually smoking. I’m pleased to say it has worked for many of my friends and staff.”
Sir Richard Branson
“Some friends of mine who had stopped using Allen Carr’s method suggested I tried it. I did. It was such a revelation that instantly I was freed from my addiction. Like those friends of mine, I found it not only easy but unbelievably enjoyable to stay stopped.”
Sir Anthony Hopkins
GOOD LUCK!There are classes at most hospitals these days. Call one and find out.
Insurance companies are offering them also.keep smoking and wake up in hospity with a triple bypass and the ventalater down yourWill power is the key. You must have lots and very very strong. Be determined, you can do it.
There is a cig called Quest that will lower the nicotine in degrees to help. Go to their web site and find the closest outlet near you.The patch helped me.diffrent things work diffrently for everyone. bupoprion (need a prescription from your doc) combined with nicotine replacement therapy (any of the nicotine products like the patch, gum, lozenge, etc) are popular. talk to a pharmacist about that stuff. there are also counseling programs like smoke stoppers. the average person tries 7 times before they finally quit, so dont give up!
the key is to really WANT to quit, not just casually trying. How to stop smoking? -
