Can anyone give me a few tips on how to stop smoking? -

Good for you for wanting to stop smoking! Nicotine is very addictive, and it is a lot of work to quit, but it can be done. I found a website that is dedicated to helping people stop smoking that is full of tips:

You can also try a 12 step program, see if your community has any other free programs, ask your doctor, visit the American Cancer Society (see below) - there are tons of resources for you - good luck!Make a list of all the reason you want to quit... Like it makes you smell, bad for your health/teeth, expense, etc. Every time you want to smoke think about all the things on your list. Also, it-s important to stay busy especially at the times you normally smoke. Don-t put yourself in high stress situaltions for a while. Stay away from other smokers! I know just the smell of a cig makes me crazy and want to smoke. If you drink, take a bit of a break... for me every time I have a drink the first thing I think about is a cig. Good luck! It will be worth it in the long run!!Keep yourself buisy with crafts or cooking ect
Leave the packet inanother room (preferbly on a different floor) so you have to make that exter effort to get them (you-d be surprised how much it works)
If you find it reaaaaly hard allocate times where your allowed to smoke but NO other time egbetween 10 and 10:30 and 1 and 1:30
Quitting with someone else helps alot
Dont hide emergancy fags around the house it will only temp you

Good Luck and Well Done For trying to quitGet rid of your cigarettes and prepare to spend a little time away from your friends that do. (Three weeks or so). Hang out with people who don-t smoke, and don-t drink or do anything else that may impair your judgment for this period of time.

They say that each acquired addiction should be replaced with another, more healthy addiction to take its place. I have heard of eating a piece of fruit or a vegetable every time you get a craving for a cigarette. You-d be surprised how good you-ll feel after you get over the hard part.

Good luck, you-re very brave.Start drinking heavily.

Just kidding. Welbutrin is an anti-depressant that makes you stop and won-t let you start eating to replace it. I am on it, but not for smoking...I admit that it stops cravings. I skipped yesterday and ended up eating a half a bag of Dove Chocolates...before I realized what was going on.

Start a thrilling novel so you have something to -grab-

Jane is correct...make it really inconvenient to get to the cigarettes...and put the lighter away from the cigarettes...it won-t be worth it and you will come to your senses in that time. Wash and hide all ashtrays so you have to get out a clean fresh one and mess it up...again, kind of a deterrant.

Sugar free candy, walnuts or almonds might help as well...but it is best to not turn to food at all.

My mom quit cold turkey...just because she made up her mind to. And she had been smoking for almost 30 years. Just visit a site that shows lung tumors...that is what worked for her.

I-ve found that sunflower seeds CAN help. It-s almost like a temporary pleasure from getting the seed out of the shell from your mouth that triggers something in the brain.

Best I-ve tried. Get thrown in jail. That helped for a bit.Shear determination. You-ve just got to go through it. Make up your mind not to buy any more, and throw what you-ve got away. It-s very difficult, I do know, I packed it up 20 years ago when I became a Christian.go to church and get saved
