I want to stop smoking can any one give me some advice? -

i-m 22 yrs old have been smoking since i was 13. my mum and dad found out about it when i was15 my dad accepted it while i was living with him in ireland,i went school over there... only when he passed away with lung cancer. at the age of 39. i started smoking alot more after he died and im now at the age of 22 and really want to quit i hate wasting money on them and hate the way it ruins your teeth skin you smell. etc. i want to quit while im young so not much long term damage will be done if anyone has any tips on quiting lemme know please
xnikkixthe pill CHANTIX.....doctor prescribed.....I smoked for 59yrs and took a pill at 5am one sat and by 11am I didnt want a cig, didnt need one, didnt even think about smoking one.....look into this...its the new wonder drug for smokers....good luckTry prescription CHANTIX, I-d tried everything else, but Chantix worked for me (40+ years 2+ packs a day)Talk to your doctor. There is a new medication on the market called -CHANTEX-. It helps take the cravings away, it takes about a full 2 months to work. Your doctor needs to prescribe it. It helped me a lot. Also chewing gum helped me. The patch wasn-t helpful for me.Champix, generic name varenicline, is a prescription pill designed to help smokers stop smoking. Champix works primarily in two ways. Firstly, it reduces the smoker-s craving for nicotine by binding to nicotine receptors in the brain and reduces the symptoms of withdrawal. Secondly, it reduces the satisfaction a smoker receives when smoking a cigarette,

In trials, 44% of the group treated with Champix had stopped smoking after being treated for 12 weeks, as opposed to 11% of smokers taking the placebo. Over the same duration, it was also shown to be twice as effective as Zyban (bupropion), the other main anti-smoking drug treatment,
my mum smoked for 23 yrs and is now off them 6 wks using these tablets! her doctor prescribbed them to her, hope this helps xI agree with Blueeyes, brilliant tablet that for quitting the ciggies, its called Champix in the UK and Chantix in the USA, make an appointment with your doctor asp and you should be well on your way to quitting soon, good luck.Hi - I had a bizaare smoking habit. Anything from ten to 50 or 60 a day. I use to smoke more after a drink. I used hypnotherapy, gum, patches, zyban (made me feel awful) and chinese herbal medicine with accupuncture.

The thing that made me stop was watching an advert from australia that was pretty awful. I-d describe it but it mentions a young person in it and I-m respecting your feelings for your dad.

Eventually I started on patches. It took a day or two to adjust because the nicotine is a different compound and you also miss the other crap in the cigarette smoke not just the nicotine. I used the patches for a while and found I couldn-t wean off them so sought the help of a chinese medicine practitioner and she gave me some revolting stuff to drink. I stuck at it and hey presto I gave up. I went through the gamut of feelings and nearly caved in so many times. I-d loose concentration, feel sick and had insomnia. But I got through it. I had such a rough time giving up that I could never go back to it as I could never go through all that again. Occasionally I get a craving and yes I-d love to smoke all over again. But I could never be a slave to it again. When it wakes you at night and you need to smoke. When you are smoking day old cigarette butts because the shops are closed or you-ve run out of cash.

My advise. Try giving up and if you fail, try again - keep at it until you-ve given up. Use the memory of your dad and how proud he-d be or even think that you don-t want to die of lung cancer like he did. Good luck this is a tough one to crack.Right, this is what i done and it worked. say to yourself over the next few days iI AM STOPPING then make you last packet cigs last till bedtime.

go to bed with the thought that your stopping in the morning, sleep with that thought and when you wake just remember what you have said and that is i am stopping, think positive.

and if its any help i gave up when i brought 40 cigs and the price was £10.20Could spend hours trying to convince you but all i have now is a one inch hole in my neck, that is where i breath, and doubles up as your nose. The machine i speak with is very robotic, but a voice of sorts.I could go on but if you fancy breathing through your neck, carry on,but i do implore you not to go this way.You have every ounce of will power i can send you and that is what you need, please accept it and run with it ,because i think you can do it,the biggest step has been taken Its on its way Good Luckif you are in england now go see doctor and ask if you can see a smoking cesation nurse they will prescribe you patches/chewing gum ect to help you i used patches you have to go back every 2 weeks for more patches and a chat so you also get the support.
Keep your hands busy I used lots of ice poles and went on the computor alot to keep me busy. As you want to give up this will help chuck all the things you used while smoking like ash trays lighters and ciggies away keep a pot on the side and put in the money each day you would have spent on cigs when you see what you save that helps alot good luck its hard but well worth itWhy dont you try chantix / champix pill. Visit http://champix.freeservers.com/ for more info.i smoked for 30 years and stoped the first 3 month are the worst just get by day by day tell your self you have lasted one day then 2 and so on it will get easier as the days go and good luck it only takes will powerwhen you find out... let me know. It-s tough for me. I have cut down from over 2 packs a day to now doing about half a pack a day. Seems like every time I try... I grind my teeth and get pretty wound up. I-ve been going to the gym and that has helped. I-ve lost about 30 lbs now.. and have gotten alot of my wind back. All I can do is keep trying.Desire to quit and willpower. All the other -fixes- are no use without these two.The commonest method is to use NRT, nicotine replacement therapy. This is even more successful if combined with attendance at a smoking cessation clinic. Ask at your GP practise for the number of your nearest clinic. There is no -one way- to do it - but consider this. When the Vietnam war ended, thousands of US troops returned home with Heroin addiction. Something like 80% of these overcome their addiction without clinical treatment - simply because they rediscovered that life was worth living. Jusy shows you the power of the mind when you find a good reason to do something difficult. Good Luck.

BTW - yes, I-m a reformed smokerThe thing that worked for me was telling myself i-d have one in a while. By always delaying it, it seemed to kill off the craving when it arrived, and made it relatively easy to other methods. Speak to -New Leaf- as they will talk to you and find out ways best suited to yourself. Don-t be disheartened if you don-t manage it first time, the intention is there and should be commended.get a pipe and smoke neat ganja you-ll never look back if you last a monthtoss out your cigarettes and buy a pack of gum. or a lot of packs of gum, actually. it-s worked for me and i-m quitting. i also keep reminding myself about how bad it makes you smell, how wrinkly it makes you, how it yellows your teeth, and how bad your breath smells. not to mention how much they cost. i started when i was 13 too and i-m 16 now.Hi I recently stoped smoking in April of last year and I have to tell you that it has to be something that you really want or you won-t be able to do it. if you live in New York call 311 for the quit smoking packs they help control your cravings. PS. I quit cold turkey after a month of patches.

Good Lucki would say get some nicotine patches to wean yourself off of them slowly.. if you try cold turkey its probably gonna be really hard..and you will relapse.. just try the nicotine patches and really dedicate yourself to quitting... every time you reach for one or want one just think of the waste of money.. the way it ruins your teeth, skin, your smell... the fact that you could get cancer ... thats how i quit i just thought about how nasty it was and that i could get cancer.. and i just realized its not worth it.. i quit about 6 months ago.... and i have been exercising and feel alot healthier.. good luck to you .. you can do it :)I started smoking when i was 11 and did so for 20 years then one day i had enough i broke my cigs in half and threw them away and haven-t had one for 7 years. The easiest way to stop smoking is will power forget patches and tabs if you want to stop you will .Put the money up and say that-s your holiday fund if you buy the cigs no hols you have to want to do it really want to and you will. Good luck with it.I went to a group called Pheonix In Lincoln, England, they helped me.
I quit using the gum, I had tried the pens and patches before and even went cold turkey a couple of times. but it was the gum that got me off!

I also had to write on a piece of paper why I wanted to stop, and I had to carry that around with me all the time, so if I ever craved one, I looked at it, and it reminded me why I wanted to stop. I have only just stopped carrying that piece of paper round with me 4 years after quitting. It said;

-Others have done it, you can do it, no-ne else is better than you! You-ll save, after, 1 year - £3,640. 3 years - £10,920. 5 years - £18,000-

I used to smoke 2 packs a day, £70 a week my habbit cost me! I was put the money to one side and after the first week buy yourself a treat, to the value of what you saved. I bought myself my favourite takeaway, and a pair of trainers. then I was told to wait for 2 weeks and buy something with the money, bought myself a dvd player and some dvd-s. then I was told to do it after 1 month of saving, booked myself a holiday with the £280 I had saved. then I was told to spend it after 3 months of saving, bought myself a motorbike! I was told that I had to save the money then make sure I spent it, it proved to be one of the clinching factors to me stopping. I had been stopped almost 5 months, I had bought tons of new stuff, I had stopped smelling like an ashtray, it was great!

also a craving only lasts for 5-10 minutes, so make sure you can be busy when a craving starts! preferably getting your hands dirty, as you-ll be less likely to smoke then.

there are places out there willing to help you quit, and my advice is to find one! I doubt i would of quit if it wasn-t for the help of Mary from the Pheonix group.

good luck, and never giver up tryingyou love smoking you don-t need an excuse for it ....you are a nicotine addict ............and you smell rottenzyban perscript of y doctor,or champix, try go to your nhs quit service lovely people give y loads of advice n encouragement, zyban zyban champix champix,go for it

Will Protonix prevent me from absorbing other meds? -

I am taking Protonix for ulcers, I have just started taking Chantix to stop smoking. Will the Protonix prevent me from absorbing the Chantix? I have found a pproblem taking it with other medications and just don-t know if it will work for the smoking cessation.Protonix will ease the stomach lining that is irritated from the ulcers. Protonix is only recommended for short term use. Since Chantix is relatively new, there may or may not be any interaction (s). I would ask the Doc that prescribed the medicine or even ask your Pharmacist. But, more than likely, it shouldn-t cause a reduction in it-s effect ( Chantix). Take the Protonix as directed and then wait an hour or two before taking the Chantix. Your stomach lining needs to heal, not become further irritated. I hope this helps and Good Luck with kicking the habit.Your pharmacist should know the answer, and if there is a problem, your pharmacist should have been on his toes, so you-d better check with him.the active ingredient of protinox belong to a group of drugs called proton pump inhibitor a very strong one although so yet protinox have the least interaction ant up till now there is no reported cases of interaction but for chantix the only drug interaction is drug thin er it is not suitable for pregnant or lactating or renal disease the drug drug interaction is not fully documented as it is still new drug it is also alter some drug pharmacodynamic so may affect drug metabolism and bio availability it may cause nausea and vomiting diarrhea or constipation for more info go for www.chantix.com hope it could helpany meds that are made to help absorb acids or help with stomach conditions absorb other meds taken within 2 hours of one another. Be careful with protonix, I was on it for ulcers as well, it worked great for a few months, then they increased my dosage, now it has an opposite effect on me, it causes severe abd pain. Just thought I-d let you know. Hope you have better luck!
