Get him to read information on -www.chantix.com-, and maybe have him read what I write.I-m 31 years old and have been smoking for over half my life. I my normal smoking habit was 1 pack or more a day. I live an extremely healthy life style dispite the smoking thing (working out every day and eating right, no drinking....). Anyway, I-ve been trying to quit smoking FOR YEARS but haven-t been able to quit successfully. It is by far the hardest thing I-ve ever done in my life.
I was prescribed Chantix by my doctor a month ago and I am now a non-smoker and know I can stay that way - finally! I consider it a miracle pill. It doesn-t take away ALL cravings, but for me they only last 10-15 seconds now rather than 20 minutes or more when going cold turkey. It-s amazing and I truely hope he checks into it if he really does want to quit!
Good luck to you and to him. :)There is nothing you can do. He will quit when he is ready to give up the addiction. You might ask him if he has considered trying Chantix the new smoking cessation drug you can get from your doc. Other than that you can-t do much if he isn-t really ready to quit.you should give him the facts about smoking (emphasize on the negative effects)
tell him to try out light cigarettes and then gradually use less and less ciggs each day
eventually he will stop
REMEMBER: it is an addiction and is extremely hard to overcome
no i don-t smoke and never have but I try to spread the word
my uncle died from lung cancerMake a statement and throw all of his ciggs in the trash can and look up to him and say....now you get my point? There is nothing you can do to make him stop. He has to decide that for himself. But you might just say how devastated you will be when the smoking causes him some major health problems. I wish you well.I personally read a book that helped... and it recommends you to keep smoking while reading it ... by the end you no longer want to smoke. It worked wonders for me!!!
-THE EASYWAY TO STOP SMOKING- BY ALAN CARRtell him to see his doctor for a Chantix prescription. nicotine is an addiction that he cannot fight on his own.A good thing to do is start covering your nose and your mouth so he can get the point that smoking is not the way 2 go. And maybe if you had the time you could show him so above the influence commercials
