What can I do to stop the dizziness?
Your body will be adjusting to the fact it is no longer inhaling cigarette smoke. It is all perfectly natural and usually nothing to worry about. If the dizziness continues over the next few days it is advisable to go see a doctor.

There are no real negative side effects to quitting, only positive ones. The longer you have stayed smoke free the easier the quitting process becomes. You have made the right choice, believe you can quit and you will.

Good Luck and Good Quittingi agree with Sarah, take it slowly, even when getting up out of bed do it a bit slower and when just standing up from a chair,
i have been reading up on everything i can find about side effects of stopping smoking as i have just quit myself, and i am now on my fourth day!!!!!! i am 36 and have smoked since i was 16 so that was 20 years of stupidity!! And if i can do it anyone can!
I tried once before to stop but didnt manage more than 24 hours and i only felt dizzy when i smoked after that 24 hour gap.
Side effects i have read about are dizziness, depression, palpatations, weight gain, panic attacks, beeing iritable, mouth ulcers, coughing for a few weeks.
so far i have been lucky and not had too many cravings and i only felt lightheaded in the first 24 hours but everyone is different, i was smoking around 10 per day.
Are you on any sort of nicotine replacement therapy?? I have been chewing nicotine gum at the times when i would normally have smoked, first thing in the morning, and after eating lunch and supper and so far it seems to be working.
Good luck and i hope you manage to quit for good. If you want a -quitting buddy- lindajane1971@aol.comIt is normal to experience different symptoms while quitting smoking. Your body is so dependent on the fulfillment that is going through withdrawals. I would take it easy, and if you feel dizzy...sit down or take a small nap. Congratulations and Good Luck! You are going through nicotine withdrawals. If you quit cold turkey, that-s why. That-s why the best way to quit is to cut back slowly. That way you avoid those kind of symptoms, plus cold turkey could always sends you back to smoking too.Yes it is. My husband quit a few years ago, and he had dizzy spells on and off for quite a while. Congratulations on trying to quit. My husband smoked for 35 years, and he was able to do it ( which shocked me ). Good Luck to you :-)Congrats and don-t give up!!! You will feel better soon...so much better than when you were smoking. Good for you!

i stopped 5 months ago with the help of 2 things.....neither of which was will power.....1 was a book called THE EASYWAY TO STOP SMOKING written by Alan Carr....and the other was nicotine inhalers.......i havnt looked back sincewell done and thanks for sharing that.

I think it is good that people can get on here and share their good news, it helps them feel better about themselves.

Keep going with being free from that habit.

Next option?..........chop off my fingers and shove them up my ****If you haven-t -looked back since- you should consult your doctor.. sounds like a muscle strain. Will power is the only thing by which you can stop smoking. You must have determination.I stopped 3.5 years ago by reading that book!!!! It-s amazing!!!

I didn-t even wanna stop but read it cause my ex had, then all of a sudden I was smoking my last cigarette while reading the chapter - -your last cigarette- - I have never looked back since! lol

Feel so good now that I-ve done it and I-m never going back!

D*The answers that you-re seeing are actually right. The most successful stop smoking method is going Cold Turkey. It-s the most successful by FAR. But you have to be to the point of disgust where you-re ready to make the decision to just stop.

Is using over one nicotine patch at a time REALLY that risky? -

...im stopping smoking in the middle of a bad cold, due to the terrible coughing and build-up in my lungs, but i think stopping smoking in the mid stages of a cold might hurt,

Do you think doctors and pharmies are over-reacting when they assert that using more than one -as prescribed- is extremely detrimental?

I smoked about 40 a day and am using one 15mil patch and another half.

Truth pls.The concern is with nicotine poisoning and heart attacks. But if you were smoking 40 a day I-m guessing you have enough nicotine tolerance for two patches. If you get any of the symptoms of nicotine poisoning -- rapid pulse, faintness, nausea, etc. -- remove the patches.
