Which is harder to do-lose weight or stop smoking? -

Losing weight is much harder to do and takes longer than to stop smoking. With Smoking: There are many ways one can stop smoking including cold turkey. You simply stop. For a period of a few weeks, the nicotine gradually leaves your body along with physiological craving. After about 6 or 8 months, the behaviors you associated with smoking finally change. You can be smoke free for the rest of your life without ever thinking about wanting a cigarette again.....provided that you made your own decision to stop in the first place.

With weight loss...you have to eat for the rest of your life. If your body tends to put on weight if you don-t pay attention to what you are eatting, then you have to find a weight management program that you will have to be on for the rest of your life. With time it will become second nature, but you will always have to follow the principles of the plan in order to remain at a healthy weight. When you reach your 50-s, then men and women-s metabolism changes. You will have to rethink your eating plan once again.

The bottom line: For your immediate health and long term health, get rid of the smoking. The hardest part is the first week, then the rest of the month it gets easier and then finally when you are smoke free for about 6 months or so, you will wake up one day and realize that you never even missed your cigarettes and can-t ever believed you smoked.

For weight issues, find a good plan for life. You will find you are less stressed about eating issues provided that you can find a plan that is realistic for yourself.

Good luck! Don-t worry about which one is harder. Just tackle the one that is right for you at this time.Losing weight. I quit smoking almost 7 years ago. I got over that in about a year, but I-m still carrying the weight I gained and more! WAH!

At least I don-t want to smoke ever again, but I have to eat. And that makes it hard because I do make good choices in what I eat.

I know there are plenty of people out there who think it-s so damned easy to -just shut your mouth- but when you quit smoking you already have an addictive personality. What replaces smoking? NOTHING. There-s nothing that you can do to celebrate a moment, to take time to think, to calm your nerves, to have after a great meal, to have after an average meal, to suppress your appetite, to keep you company when lonely, to be there when you-re sad, to be there when you-re happy etc... Although smoking does speed up your metabolism, it is expensive, stinks and kills people or at least makes them sick (asthma, emphysema etc...).

But eating human beings can-t avoid, so those of us who quit smoking often have problems with food because we just can-t stop eating, we all need to have that fuel everyday. And we are used to putting something in our mouths. So don-t be so crass to think not eating is an easy way out. It isn-t. Your metabolism slows down and you get depressed and it-s complicated and difficult.

But, I-ve had more men chasing after me with weight on then when I was thin. Go figure.

I don-t always have the time I-d like to work out and I know that is a big part of the problem. Free time is rare, especially since I-ve been on Yahoo Answers. Oh, time for me to go!both. they are connectedstop smoking as you really get addictive and it is very hard to stop.I vote for losing weight. If you can stop smoking for a week you-re pretty much home free. To lose weight you have to change a lifetime of eating habits. Food tastes better than cigarettes, plus it-s harder to get into the habit or working out on a regular basis.quitting smokingstop smoking.I have heard to stop smoking and it gives me great respect for those who do-I know how hard it is to lose weight.Quitting smoking is hard because nicotine is addictive. The longer you-ve smoked, the harder it takes to quit.Nicotine in cigarettes is addictive, while eating (for most) is not. You can drop a few pounds easy, but if you want to stop smoking, it is going to take a concious effort to keep you from slipping back.smokingThey are both hard to do but probably quiting smoking since it is a drug that is very addictive but losing weight is also hard because the wait can come back after you have lost it but i have also none people who have quit smoking who have started again years later they are both a big challenge i guess it depends on the person if you quit smoking it is best to stay away from smokers for there smoke is will tempt you and this is hard if they are your friends you could aways to it as a group and help support each other in either case.Quiting smoking is easy for me. I do it every couple of months or so.It is harder to lose weight. Smoking you can stop cold turkey and not suffer any problems. Food cannot be stopped altogether, you have to take in a certain amount without going over the limits you set. Try quitting smoking if you had to have at least 5 cigarettes a day.

How do i get my girlfriend to believe me that i will stop smoking? (pt 2)? -

How do i get my girlfriend to believe me that i will stop smoking? (pt 2)? -

hello, my girlfriend hates cig. smoking and i-m not heavy smoker but i have smoked a couple times in my life. anyway, i told her i wanted to smoke, we got in a big fight which ended in her buying cigs for everytime i had an urge. SO, i smoked one and she got pissed off so i said why the f do u have them in the first place? no answer. instead of lying to her about smoking the cig, i told her the truth cos i was guilty KNOWING she would get pissed but i couldnt help myself.
anyway, so now i-ve told her i would never smoke again and she wont believe me. given the fact that this is the 2nd time i-ve smoked (in a year) and told her i would stop...please dont tell me -once a liar, always a liar-
i really feel like i dont need cigs in my life i just am not thinking clearly when i act on those impulses...and now i want to be true to her but it seems like i-ve cried wolf too many times.... :-(OK, you like smoking...

She doesn-t...

And she doesn-t like you enough that she would put up with your smoking?

See, this is why so many relationships end badly.

You-re a smoker. She needs to get over this, or maybe she-s not right for you. If you give into her for this, you-ll be whipped for the rest of your miserable lives. Grow a spine and tell her to deal with it or leave. You-ll never be happy together.

Wimp. The only way to prove this to her is to not do it. Things like this take time. She has to learn to trust you, and the only way she will trust you is if she never sees you smoke. Just don-t do it. Once she sees that you aren-t smoking then she will believe you.Give her a calender for 2009, and tell her to consider it your new years resolution and be smoke free day by day, also a romantic commitment to love her each smoke free day.Sounds like she could use a cigarette.Hi, I want you to stop for a sec and ask yourself, why am I wanting to quit smoking? If it is for your girlfriend you have a very tall hill to climb. Your girlfriend will believe what you show her, when you stop smoking she will watch you and in time as you live smoke free she will see... You task is not to convince her or others for that matter it is for you to take control of your life by quitting smoking. I was a heavy smoker for 30 years and had tried to quit many times for others with no success. I am now a non smoker and it took only a total of 7 weeks. You and only you can be your motivation to quit, you can do it for a lot of reasons but they have to be your reasons and truly from your heart not anyone else. You got smoking into your life you need to get it out of your life. That way you will not feel resentment towards anyone when or if you have a few hard cravings ( I never did ). If you want to quit so you can have her then quit, but do it so you can go to her as a health man that will not be smoking around her which could make her sick and you don-t want that right. After a lot of soul searching if you decide you are wanting to quit for you, your health, to take back your power and remove the control smoking has over you and any relationship you might have then take Chantix if your doctor says you can. IT WORKS!! There are a few side effects but nothing I couldn-t handle for a few weeks. After dealing with smoking for 30 years I figured some bad dreams and a little nausea ( which never made me get sick ) was a very small price to pay. It was the best thing I have ever done for myself, now after just 7 weeks of Chantix I have been smoke free since Sept. 9th, 2008. I have had NO cravings and I feel great. I also love having all the extra money.
I wish you luck, you can do it.....I know you can with Chantix ...

Recently stopped smoking and need to start gettin fit!!? -

Ok, I stopped smoking 7 weeks ago and have ended up swappin my ciggies for food.I have never really been one for keeping myself in shape so ive figured out I need to start going to the gym. Only problem is I don-t know where to start. Obviously I don-t want to throw myself in at the deep end cause I-ll probably end up killing myself, so i-m lookin for ideas for a light workout to begin with. Its mainly upper body and my ever growing stomach that are the main areas I want to work on. Thanks.WELL THIS IS MY OPINION AND I THINK THAT IT WOULD BE EASYER TO START OFF EASY. I HAVE HAS LOTS OF FRIENDS IN THIS SITUATION AND YOU NEED TO START OFF EASY.
BUT THATS GOOD THAT YOU HAVE QUITE CUS IT CUTS OF YOUR LIFE AND PPL ALWAYS SAY LIVE YOUR LIFE TO THE FULEST BUT NOT THAT WAY.
SO YOU SHOULD START OF WITH LIGHT WEIGHTS.
I WOULDENT RUN CUS YOUR LUNGS WOULD HURT AND YOU WOULDENT BE ABLE TO RUN THAT LONG.Run, run. run, run. I run for soccer a lot and also do a lot of upper body workouts with free weights. But the most important thing for weight loss is cardio. So run, walk, bike, or swim. A LOT! Burn more calories then you consume and you-ll be fine.go for a short jog everyday
do 50 sit up-s everyday for the first week
75 for the next week
and 100 from then on.
