Hi all I have stopped smoking for 6 weeks? -
when does the eating thing stop I seem to eat all day and night i have put on a stone ANY BODY HAVE THE ANSWERthanksIt should stop right around now.
You know, you-re not really hungry, right? It-s just that oral fixation that has to get satisfied, now that you don-t put cigs to your mouth anymore.
Try chewing gum.
Eat carrot sticks (instead of chips), so you don-t gain too much weight. carrot sticks are great, because you also have to chew them for a while.
Liquorish is good too.
Congratulations and good luck!
Be very proud of yourself!
.i do not know much but i will advance to read the following news carefully please and you will find your benefit of quiting smoke and the help you can have.
The possibility of weight gain is often of particular concern to those who want to give up smoking. Weight gain is often progressive for a period of at least a year and, on average, ex-smokers will gain around 5kg in weight.9 However, this is the weight gain made without recourse to any special attempts at dieting or exercise and it presents a minor health risk when compared to the risk of continued smoking. In addition, improved lung function and some of the other health benefits of giving up smoking are likely to make exercise both easier and more beneficial. See QUIT’s guide to stopping smoking without putting on weight for further advice.

Sorry, no but well done on not smokin!! It-s really hard to quit, i can-t do it.Well done. Eat as much as you like, but try to change what you eat. Fruit and veg - good. Chips, burgers and other processed foods - bad.
Having got this far, don-t ever smoke a cigarette again. After nearly 20years I still sometimes crave a ciggy, but I never have one.You are just substituting one addiction for another. Cutting down on your calorie intake takes discipline too.
I gave up smoking over 8 years ago and can give you at least one good tip. You should have kept your last packet and the means to light them at home, as your greatest temptation will be to buy a sneaky packet, if you have your last packet at home you will be less likely to be tempted. Just remember if you have one you will only have given up after that one. It is very hard and i still get occasional cravings but feel better than i did 10 years ago.
Good Luckits cause your finding a distraction from nictoine. You need to remember what you used to do, your old eating patterns.Nope! I put on 2 stone when I stopped smoking for the 3rd time. I managed to lose 1 stone (Weightwatchers) but the other one is still with me. After all what CAN you do after a nice meal, wine .. when the coffee comes, you have to have a chocolate if you can-t have a cigarette. I suppose some of the people answering have no addictions at all - how boring. I still don-t know how you can get any kind of hit off a carrot. Anyhow, good luck and don-t start smoking again - you-ll only have to stop again and it-ll be harder the next time and you-ll gain even more weight!well done you! try eating fruit if you feel the need to snack, and as you feel healthier take more exerciseGood work Raggy, you-ve done 6 weeks now go for 12.
Now that you are casting-off the dreaded -ash-, don-t get into obesity; just be strong, eat regular meals of a healthy nature and if you have hunger pangs in between then just eat fruit. always remember the old motto, -let the others grow weak, we must stay strong-. Keep fighting.Im on day 56 and i had to just tell myself i cant eat like this anymore and started myself on a sheet. i write down everything i eat and drink and stopped with the fast food (i ate it like crazy when i quit.) I wish there was a better answer but there is not.well doneIt is variable I am afraid. However statistically you have taken the greatest possible step to decrease your health risks. 50% of current smokers will die as a direct result of their habit!
try and take more exercise and chew sugar free gum in the meantime, but if you try and diet too early in the game, you are likely to fail one way or another. Best let things settle until you have been off the fags for at least 6 months.start chewing on celery and gum. congrats on quitting smoking. i know how hard to do it is. the food is a substitute-find a hobby. keep your hands busy.well ... you replaced one habit with an other ... try having silly food with you all the time .. something like popcorn ... something you can chew all day and has no (significant amount of) calories ... and drink a lot of water! ... always have things lake that with you .. replace smoking (now eating) with a habit of drinking water ...Sorry no, but good on ya, try to find something else to amuse yourself.well done on giving up. don-t worry too much about the weight if you have the willpower to give up smoking you-ll have no trouble sticking to a diet, one thing at a time.good luck.Well done - I gave up over six months ago - I have put on about 10 pounds. I literally couldn-t stop eating first of all but it does level out. I am not overweight, if anything I needed a few extra pounds but my next plan is to just try and lose a bit. Do one thing at a time - not smoking is the priority to keep at it - you hae done really really well. Just try and eat as healty as possible now, eat fruit and nuts to keep hunger pangs at bay.
