I need to stop smoking weed...but its making me feel depressed again. What should I do ? -
First off, I-m 14. I have to take a surprise drug test soon...I got caught at my school with weed about a three weeks ago. I -relapsed- this weekend. I don-t know if I should just keep on smoking or quit ?Weed makes everything better for me. No depression. I-m motivated to do things. Makes me get along with my family. I make the best memories and have a blast. I know I am psychologically addicted to it. It-s always on my mind.
What should I do ? When I got caught my parents first found out I smoked. They-ve been so disappointed in me.You-re using the wrong drug! If you-re depressed, what you want are SSRI-s, which are legal and, more to the point, don-t cause brain damage and impairment like weed. So go to your doctor and say you-re depressed. Now if that doesn-t work, and they can-t come up with something that does, well . . . But in the meantime, remember that weed is a more harmful drug than you think it is (or I thought it was when I was your age), it makes you happy but it-s seriously impairing and it impairs you in such a way that you frequently can-t see that you-re impaired.
Sure, it-s going to *feel* like everything is going great because the weed puts you in la-la land, meanwhile you-re getting dumber and dumbbber and dumbbbbber and everyone can see that but you.
It isn-t *normal* to always be happy and get along with your family and everything. People have arguments, get unhappy, particularly teenagers, who have very volatile emotions. This is one of the problems with weed, it leaves you laid back and happy and you don-t develop emotionally, stop dealing with your problems, lose your ambition. Like the carpenter who-s working on my kitchen, he-s 55, he-s always stoned, he-s a very nice guy with that laid-back pot hippie personality but he lives on unemployment half the time, can-t afford medical insurance, and you have to give him instructions very slowwwwly because he-s stoned. Do you want to end up like that? I have a lot of stoner friends who did.You need to talk to your parents. It-s better to deal with this at 14 then when you are a legal adult.
You sound really mature and smart for your age, so I think you already understand that you are trying to fix your depression with the weed. That would be perfectly fine, except obviously it-s illegal.
Tell your parents you want to fix the depression and that-s why you use Mary Jane. Tell them how horrible you feel about upsetting them and that you need to get help. They love you and I-m sure they-ll respect that.a 14 yr old shouldn-t be smoking anything...but it doesn-t matter what adults say we talk with our kids but some kids don-t give a crap and do what they want..this is YOU-RE life and YOU are the only one to move in any direction...so far you chose the wrong wayIf you wouldn-t get caught I-d say smoke weed it-s what got me to the dreadiness of school. Comparably to other yahoo users, you are clear and lucid in your question. This indicates that you-re most likely depressed due to at least partial boredom in school. If it isn-t a complete drug test I recommend Oxycontin, if it is I highly recommend taking Aniracetam (can be gotten at a nutritional sublement store) in conjunction with Lecithine (also supplement store).
Btw to Colonel Ignorance below: SSRI-s can be significantly more impairing to the brain than any amount of marijuana. Weed causes mild short term memory impairment which remains reversible even after long term use. It does cause a visible and indefinitely lasting decrease in the mass of the amygdala (stress center), but most anxiety sufferers consider this a blessing.I also started smoking at your age. I dealt with depression and anxiety and I thought weed was the answer.
But it really isn-t, in fact it can make your mood much more unstable. I think it-s great that you can see you are psychologically addicted to it.
Congratulations, you-ve already made the first step to change. I strongly believe you should quit smoking marijuana, I think you are capable enough to see this, but you still want something to make your depression symptoms go away.
As for the pros of marijuana, you can acheive these feelings other ways. The negatives you can certainly do without, just think about how disappointed your parents will feel if they catch you smoking again. It will only make your relationship with them much more difficult, because they will lose their trust in you. It took me forever to get my parents- trust back, and even now that I-m older, they still don-t really trust me.
I can-t say how much I regret giving into my addiction, smoking everyday, multiple times over the past years. You-ve got to think about how your addiction will affect you in the long term, looking at short term (-No depression. I-m motivated to do things. Makes me get along with my family. I make the best memories and have a blast.-) will only confuse you.
I know you are young, but seriously, I-ve been in the same exact place you are. And I-m kinda still in the same place because of the choices I made on a daily basis years ago. I-m telling you the honest truth, I don-t want to scare you, but sometimes I wish I was never even introduced to marijuana.
YOU are still young, and you have all this time to change for the better. I don-t, that time for me and a million other people has passed. Just think about that.
How to quit: Find an old hobby you used to love. Chill with friends that don-t smoke. Talk to a school counselor about your depression. Use your time wisely, don-t sit idly, ever. Volunteer at a pet shelter, or wherever. Get a job? Read. Challenge yourself, physically and intellectually. Get in shape, Get top grades to show your parents! DON-t Be afraid to ask your parents for help!
feel free to send me an email, I have plenty advice about this subject. Cheers!
