Hypnosis to stop smoking? Does it work? -
I really want to quit smoking!!! At least I want to want to quit smoking...(any smokers know what I mean by that so don-t judge if you have never experienced this addiction.) So I have tried gum, the patch, cutting back, and cold turkey. I have tried working out more than usual, eating candy, and even sucking on flipping carrot sticks whenever I normally have a cig during my daily routine. I don-t even drink alcohol anymore or eat high fatty foods which is a major trigger for a smoke. I even tried an anti-depressant that is suppose to help. I have failed miserably each time. I end up smoking more it seems. So I know the more you try the more successful you-ll be. That relapsing is a part of recovery...
Anyways to get to my question... Has anyone out there had first or second hand experience with hypnosis helping a person to quit smoking? I-ve heard from people it works... But how effective is it really? Is it a drastic change in your behavior, or does it just kinda get you jump started? And how much is it usually, (how much per session, how many sessions) ? Is it worth the money?
Thanks for any advice. I want to be free from all of this....I-m also a smoker and I hate it. I tried almost everything and nothing helped, so I know exactly how you feel. I realized lately, it-s fear of loosing the -support- cigarettes give me that keeps me from quitting. It absolutely terrifies me.
A friend of mine was also terrified, only of cats. She went to hypnotherapist and now she can come over and visit me, without me locking up my two siamese babies in the bedroom. She still doesn-t like them, but she is not scared.
So, I wonder, if it can help you with the fear of cats, why couldn-t help with fear of loosing a poisonous -friend-?
I think I-ll try it.Hi Hilirea-I smoked 3 packs a day for 15 year.Always had a cigarette in my hand. I couldn-t stop no matter what I tried. Is there a contributing factor to you smoking? I did what the cancer sociey said and then I gave it to God. I slept for three days-juices only-and ate suckers-been clean 17 years

No.
In hypnosis, it can-t make you do anything you can-t/won-t physically do or make you do something you don-t want to do.
Hypnosis only lasts, at the most, for thirty minutes.
I-m learning about it in psychology right now.
The best thing to do it get Nicotine patches.
Cigarette smoking is the most addictive substance. It is no small wonder that people find it so difficult to stop-smoking - it is more addictive than heroin............................Have you ever been hypnotized? Can you be?
That is the first step. Some people fake it to get along or put on a show.
I was staring in one of those round hypnosis wheels that draw you to the center. It was my Mom that was being hypnotized to lose weight. They give you suggestions during the session and post hypnotic suggestions to help you with self hypnosis. That is the only way to do this long term if you do not have the $$ and or time to have a Hypno Therapist at your beckened call.
Well, back to the wheel...I was being drawn in and had to force myself out of it. I must be pretty susceptible, except, not with voice or shiney gadgets, but the wheel was awesome and I never tried it from that day for myself, but my Mom had good results on her diet until she got lazy and slacked off.I haven-t but lots of friends have, and guess what, they still smoke. I don-t know what it costs, they never explained that to me. You don-t say how long you-ve been smoking, but I would guess not all that long, maybe a couple of years. The key to quitting is a strong will to quit. You can try all that you have tried, but if you don-t have that strong will, you won-t succeed. You have to quit cold turkey. Flipping carrots sticks and sucking on them is what you do when you smoke, so it just makes you want a cigarette. You would have to go around in a hypnotic state from being hypnotized every day. Chew gum and just quit. Don-t eat a lot of different things, you-ll only gain weight. Stay away from places where smoking is going on. Stay away from friends that smoke or at least ask them not to smoke in front of you. If they are true friends, they will sympathize with you and respect the fact that you are trying to quit. If not, get some new friends. Just keep a positive outlook and say to yourself I can and I will quit. Wishing you the very best young lady and I certainly hope you succeed. You-ll feel better both mentally and physically. And you-ll smell better. Cigarettes do leave a nicotine smell on you and everything you wear. Just ask somebody who doesn-t smoke. Good luck to you.I smoked for 18 years and finally quit a month ago. I-ve tried countless times to quit. Somehow, it-s different this time. I just have the determination this time that I didn-t have before.
I have two friends who tried hypnosis for 70-80 dollars. Both started smoking again after a period of a month or two.
What I-ve heard is really successful is lazer therapy. It-s more of a scientific way of removing the cravings from your memory. I won-t voice my opinion on this medical advance being healthy or not, but certainly smoking is not healthy and very costly.Hypnosis has been used now consistently to help people finally quit the habit of smoking. I see many people each week and help them to quit smoking . Hypnosis has always been believed to be a state of mind where suggestion can penetrate at its best. If the person is relaxed and is ultra alert, he becomes more eager to accept that he has problems which lead him to several changes such as quitting smoking.
