Stopping Smoking? -
I have just recently stopped smoking and I was wondering if anybody had any tips on how to stay off cigarettes? I smoked my last ciggie on Sunday afternoon and was in hospital until yesterday afternoon having an operation, so it didn-t really bother me as I was in a lot of pain and couldn-t really walk. Now I-m home I-m finding that I have major cravings and don-t know what to do with my hands! I haven-t substituted ciggies with food yet so that-s a good sign! Any tips guys? I don-t really want to use patches or gum so if you have any tips that will take my mind off the cravings without using these that would be great! Lulu xStay away from the gum and patches, it takes 72-96 hours for all of the nicotine to get out of your body, you are already there. I would suggest that you use drinking straws or chew on an ink pen. Having just had surgery you are probably spending a lot of down time, being bored, you need to find something to keep you busy. You will have to find what works best for you, each person is different. You have made it through the hardest part so stick with it you are doing great!Michael
www.DrMichaelPaul.comI started a hobby, cross stitching. I find that if I get into that I don-t think about smoking. Any craft store is full of interesting things to do. Another good thing to do is read a book. Before you know it, you have gone several hours without smoking.
