Advice for quitting smoking? -

Advice for quitting smoking? -

OK so my aunt has been encouraging me to stop smoking. After a bout of sickness (a bad cold) I discovered I think I-m ready to quit. I have my last pack of cigarettes between my boyfriend and I. We-re both quitting, and I don-t know if I can make it. I don-t want to use the patch (Expensive and 3 in my family tried it and it didn-t work)...I can-t get a prescription for those anit-smoking pills or whatever they are.

Does anyone have any good choices besides smoking that will keep me from eating?

My aunt suggest cough drops (seeing as I-m still a bit sick) or mints.

If you need any info I-m 21 and have been smoking a little over 5-6 years. I started young and want to quit young. I hate that smokers cough everyone has and it-s so disgusting. Plus with smokes going up every other day I can-t keep paying that. When I started they were around $2.50 a pack.

Any tips and advice would be appreciated. Also please don-t give me the -Oh its healthy to quit blah blah blah- to be honest I can-t afford it anymore and just can-t stand the taste. Its not really health reasons other than the coughing my parents both have from it.

Please no smoking bashers because I work with many that smoke and its going to be hard. I just need tips to keep myself from smoking and re-starting.I quit 3 years ago (in college at the time) by telling my roommate to punch me in the face anytime he caught me with a cigarette. Kind of painful, but it worked.

Good luck.
