to some extent reverse the effects that smoking has had on my lungs? And ..when im running my body doesnt so much tire as much as i run out of breath frequently is there any breathing exercises etc that i can use to make my lungs able to endure longer activitiesCongratulations on giving up smoking. Yes your body benefits immediately you stop smoking. Running or walking for 1 mile a day is excellent exercise that will have a very good effect on your health overall. It will take time to overcome the harm that smoking caused and that time is unique to each person. Also, it takes time to become more fit so as you continue to exercise at this rate, you should find that you will run out of breath less frequently. The body will become accustomed to being active but you need to build up gradually and not overdo it too quickly. We need to listen to what our body is telling us so it might be best to stop or slow down when the breathlessness starts. Walking is very gently on the body so you can-t go far wrong. Enjoy it and good luck.My question is two fold...first i stopped smoking will running/walking 1 mile a day along with other exercise? -
