How do I stop Smoking??? -

How do I stop Smoking??? -

I have smoking habit for last 10 years. Now I try to discontinue this habit. I have tried, but unable to do this. PLz help.First you should know it is hard but doable, you’ve been smoking for 10 years so you should not expect to quit within 10 days or so. Second you should find the reason, ask yourself why I smoked? You enjoyed it or it helped you to forget some of your problems and so on. You should first uproot the reason then try to quit, I am sure you can you can you can and YOU CAN ,NEVER BE DISAPPOINTED.I know the usual...try the gum, eat the mints, quit cold turkey...but I-ve been a smoker for the past ten years too (about) and the best thing I-ve found out that works, which I-m doing now, is to slowly smoke less and less, until you can finally quit. When I-m bored, instead of smoking, I-ll have a sucker or chew on a toothpick. After I eat, I try to wait 30 minutes after I-ve eaten to smoke. After the first couple of days, I didn-t even have that -after meal- craving for a cigarette! Good lucku cann-t stop smoking just like that. It is not a easy task but the good news is it is also not a impossible task.

To quite a bad habit, you will need a new habit to replace it. And the key is the pleasure you get from the new habit must be greater than the bad habit.

Have you ever wonder what make you feel like smoke? is it pressure, is it lonely, is it other reason? find the real reasons and find a new habit that can also achieve the same pleasure.

ie. if you smoke because you feel it is a relaxation from your daily works. instead, try to listen to music or try other activity to replace the smoking provided you like music or the activity.now a days it is not really difficult to stop smoking or drinking or any other bad habit. There are many rehab centres in the city which can make you get out of it. It is a different issue if you dont want to spend money on it, if at all they are charging. Even some new age drugs have come in the market that help in getting reed of such habits. But what actually matters is your will power to get rid of this habbit. If you really want to quit smoking then you will definately will whatsoever. Even if you dont follow the solutions mentioned above (except the drugs because they are definately going to work, I suppose.) so keep trying and stop smoking as soon as possible cause I HATE SMOKERS AND SMOKE.You have to really want to.
I smoked for 20 years and just recently quit, and haven-t cheated once for the last 14 months.
I didn-t use any aides or gimmicks.... pure will.

You can try nicorette or something, but you really have to want to quit for it to work.theres now a drug on the market that helpsjust say no......................STOP IT!Try smoking from the lit end one time. I bet you don-t want another cigarette after that!You-ll need to replace one bad habit with another habit. Try chewing gum or exercising. The point is: you can-t just STOP. The human body doesn-t work that way.Cold turkey. If that doesn-t work out try going to a smoking cessation program. First they-ll put you on a pill which you have to take for a month depends on how much you smoke. Then after that you have to stop and start with the nicotine patches for up to 6 weeks.
Honestly if you-re a smoker and have failed many times to quit already then you just have to control the urge and smoke socially like when you-re drinking or when you-re stressed. For instance, you can think of the mortal effects of smoking. Many people use it unfortunately, you have to give it up at once before it-s too late.well i have not smoked in 2 yrs and 3 months now, i had smoked for 17 years. i stopped smoking because my life depended on it, i found i had a blood clot in my leg, and it was caused from the smoking, i put the patch on me and used it for one month, all honesty, my cravings went away and i pulled off the patch and stopped by myself without anything. just keep in mind everytime you smoke a cigarette it does more damage to your blood stream as well as your lungs, and you can have some clotting from it. i am only 29 and this happened to me, but my advice is try anything to help yourself, but remember you have to want to do this, and it has to be in your mind everyday, say -i want this-, dont give upCold turkey.it takes about 2 weeksJust forget all about smoking that-s all and if still you cant stop it try controling yourselfwhat i did was cut a straw to about the same size as your favorite ciggette. then smoke clean air, take deep breathes, definately wear the patch, and suck on sugar free cough drops. you also have to be very aware of your thinking and don-t fall into the habit of thinking, -well things are going this bad that i just have to smoke until things get better-. Things will always not go your way sometime, so you would forever continue the cycle of smoking and nonsmoking. keep on quiting. if you quit for 2 days and pick up thats ok. just quit again, and see how long you can go. one drastic option is to buy a pack of ciggerettes then promptly tear them all up except 3 or 4. this gets expensive after awhile and one gets tired of wasting money. good luck!!
