Have stopped smoking today .What precautions reqd to protect side effects? -

Had been smoking for 30 yrs.Quantity upto 30 cigs per day when leftThe same case with me.
Only for a month or two you will feel to smoke. But for God-s sake control the urge. When you gaveup smoking you have done with 80 percent of the hurdle the remaining 20 percent is easy but requires perseverance. Whenever tempted, say loudly to yourself - I WILL NOT SMOKE-.
You may even dream smoking. Wake up in panic in fear of breaking a most sacred trust - the trust on self, say loudly -I WILL NOT SMOKE- repeatedly for few moments. Go to sleep with a determined mind.
Soon, you can beat even a sardarji in no-smoking soon.the qn sounds as though u r proud of 30 yrs of smoking and u r doing a charity by quitting!. This mentality is not good.

What side effects??? The only side effects you will notice are that there will be more people at your side. All those who avoided you, as they did not want the free dose of second hand smoke you were dishing out. Congratulations!!! For God’s sake please don’t start again.Dear friend,

CURE YOURSELF -you might want to find a health food store and get some valerian/lobelia drops -- they kill the nervousness that goes with the urge to smoke. i drank huge amounts of peppermint tea -- anything that makes you happy is going to help. animal cookies, chocolate, etc. find a lo- cal snack food like pretzels and get ready to munch out. i gained about 5 lbs but lost it when i got sick of snacking all the time.

make a good mantra for yourself and keep repeating it -- i quit because i realized smoking wasn-t good for me and the govt and cigarette companies were busy making money off my bad health. thats kind of long but you get the just of it.

there is no way to protect yourself for most of the side effects. i was on and off sick for about 2 months. just keep telling yourself you really don-t need a cigarette - -its all a mind game. then give your mind something to shut it up.I dont think you will have any side effects . I feel you will be more healthy and more active and your people will like you more than before.YOu will also increase your stamina.you will fee appetite you will love you more of course . you will feel yourself a different personality in fact . well you had the nice decision.There are no side effects from giving up smoking other than improving health and feeling much better. Oh, and living longer. Good luck. I gave up over 100 a day 30+ years ago.don-t carry a gunCongratulations and keep it up.

1. Dont try other tobacco items such as Guthka
2. Try chewing gums when u feel to smoke
3. Try Yoga to develope your will power
4. Hey try to avoid sittings initially where your colleague or freinds smoke
5 Pray for the best.

Eat some sweets! Suck (not chew or bite) them. This is to accustom the mouth to not craving cigarettes.
And drink plenty of water. It helps.
All the bestU have to forget that u were smoking before. After a month or so, when u think u might slip from the promise, u have to find an alternative. This alternative shld not be a single alternative. i.e.don-t routinise. Every time u have to do something different. One time if u try to repeat the name of ur loved one for some time, the next time, u may go out for a walk, next time a chat on the net, etc, but everytime u have to keep a very interesting alternative.

u may go on preaching the ill effects of smoking after 3-4 months.Do exercise daily in the early morning.
do meditaion in morning for few minutes
eat 2 to 3 variety of fruits daily
aviod company with smokers
- be always happy-cool.I applaud you keep up the good work.

I live in Toronto, Can.,(heck, who cares, I could be living in Tumba Umba) and my doctor prescribed Champix to try to stop smoking. I went to netdoctor.co.uk/medicines and found information about these tablets. Anyone had any success using Champix since the pills were invented in England . Please share if you experienced any negative effects that might occur (they all listed on the site). Do you personally stop smoking? Spacibo. Thanks in advance.My mum has had success with them............
She took them for 2 weeks but on the third week she became very nauseous and she chose to stop taking them but she still hasn-t smoked and thats been 4 months now.
She felt sick because the strength of her tablets were increased so if it happens to you you have the choice to go back down to the lesser strength.
They are worth a try. Good Luck xxxI used them over a yr ago . . . for 6 weeks I did not smoke nor did I want one but my hubby went in hospital with heart . . . I got stressed - went back to smoking . This past January I tried the Chantix again . . . this time they made me so sick . . . I even cut the pills in half and took one with food . . waited 2 hours then took the other half . . . so sick - stomach cramps bad also my blood pressure started getting really high 192/136 . I had to quit taking them . . . I have 4 boxes of them still unopened and darn they were expensive. Needless to say I am still smoking but my doctor has told me to try the ear magnets, he says they work like accu puncture - to get them on E-bay for $6 where as off the tv they are $30 . . . he says he has 1 patient who has had laser surgery done - he is doing great so I may look that direction if magnet doesn-t work . . .of course I have to use the magnet for it to workYes, they work. One problem is that you have to take them with food. Normally, if I have breakfast, it-s usually some fruit or a snack cake and a cup of coffee. That-s not enough to stop the upset stomach caused by the Chantix. What I found to be helpful was to take the pill during the meal.

This drug has now been implicated in 39 suicides. It also can cause heart failure, suicidal tendencies, depression and diabetes. It won-t be long before this dangerous drug is taken off the market.They are called Chantix, and I have heard people have had great success with them. However, I also heard of a class action suit against them. They supposedly cause seizures in some people.
I have a bottle, but I-m afraid to take them... I-m waiting on more people to try them...lol

Start Sucking Lollipops.. sounds stupid.. but does work.. look bit silly aswell.. but oh well..

thats what iv been doing.. not had a cig in 4 days.. and chewing gum

well proud..I-ve never actually smoked, but my dad uses chewing gum, it supresses his need to smoke and the need to eatI ate wintergreen lifesavers like they were going out of style! I also stayed away from alcohol for the first 6 wks (I smoked twice as much when I drank!). Another thing I did was brush my teeth and mouthwash alot (who wants to spoil a fresh mouth with a cig right?!). The first few days I avoided other smokers, but after about 7-10 days, I was able to sit with my husband when he smoked and it didnt bother me...too much! We also stopped all smoking in the house and the truck...that helped. Honestly, people can only give u ideas that worked for them, but u need to find what works best for u. I tried every nicotine gum and patch out there, as well as taking ziban (the dreams I had were f***ed up), and in the end, cold turkey is what worked for me. Find ur own groove...

If u relapse, no biggie, just keep trying! Good luck, hope this helped! =)What ever you would not normally do, get out of the habit of smoking when on the phone, after meals, get up and go for a walk, not a fag. Take up things that occupy your hands and mind, crossword puzzles, take up knitting, write a letter, learn something you have never done before. Go get a glass of water, cut some veg and keep in the fridge to nibble on rather then drag on a smelly fag.

Soon as you have saved a couple of quid from not smoking, treat yourself to something really nice, new hair style, new clothes, if you weaken, don-t beat your self up, start again. Remember journey of a million miles begins with one step at a time, (One day at a time)

It may sound hokey, but a co-worker of mine tried it and AFTER ONE TREATMENT gave up the cigarettes and hasn-t touched them since (it has been over three years). The cool thing is most health care plans will pay for some or all of the cost of the hypnotherapy sessions. It-s worth checking out. I wouldn-t have believed it would work if I hadn-t seen it with my own eyes.
